643-dp
Not much has been said about the new school opening in Fall of '08 in knox co. Have they hired any coaches or done any interviews as of yet? Will any big names move from other knox co schools to fill the new positions? Guest CubsFan
No names floating around, they just announced the mascot name. They will be called the Hawks
CHEESEFRIES
I think there will be some 'big' names pop up after season is finished. I have knowledge of 3 coaches, not all in knox----- but in the surrounding area, that have state tourney appearances/state championships that are interested. Guest CubsFan
Chris Lindsey of West High School former coach there now an assistant principal is very interested in getting back in coaching could be ready to take over that team.. redandblack63
If they would like to hire the best dressed no doubt it would be Lindsey. Best Coach might be questionable. All though he would be very capable. This school will play J.V. and freshman the first year I think? Some Head Coaches around town are Coaching in one school and teaching in another. This would be a great opportunity for them to have teaching and coaching job in the same school. Who are the Head Coaches that have State tourney experience and championships? CHEESEFRIES
I can't let the cat out of the bag with their names, but the 2 prominent ones are excellent coaches and may have accomplished about all they can at their current schools. There's no current boys coaches with State Titles under their belts in Knox County. There are plenty of coaches with Runner up finishes but no Gold Balls.. Noticed I said Current coaches... Cheesefries you should let the cat out of the bag.. Secondly, Mrs. Reynolds, the principal at HVA used to work at West and I'm pretty sure she's been talking to Coach Lindsey about the possible opening... IrishBBall
This is a great opportunity for a young coach to come in and put his stamp on a program. Not knocking Chris Lindsay, but what has he ever really done? At his age, does he really have the fire to get the job done? Having shared time at West, Mrs. Reynolds has seen a basketball team flounder without any really good seasons in recent memory. There would be limited pressure if they're playing a Freshman and JV schedule so take a chance and give that new coach a break.

You are right, the one I know of is not in Knox. He is in the surrounding area. And 'no'. He is not in Blount Co.
timbdp
How many students is the school going to have and what class are they going to play at?
Coachwo
Anybody know about the size school and classification? Where in Knox. County will the school be? The reason I ask is I am a expierenced coach (12 years- 10 in Tennessee, 2 in Alabama) currently coaching in Alabama and possibly looking to come back home to Tennessee- wife's family is there and we may need to be closer to them for undisclosed reasons. I've heard the school will have approximately 1200 to 1500 students. I think the school will be classified as AAA in basketball. I don't know if it will be AAAA or AAAAA in football. These figures may be wrong; this is just what I have heard through the grapevine.
