mocs30
Anyone who thinks that Oak Ridge is not the team to beat in the Region is delusional. They will handily beat Bearden if they play. Maryville would be closer, but I still like the 'Cats.
lcpanther75
Fellers how duz tha chant go??? Is that not the winning team? Yes that is the winning team! Is that not the losing team? Yes that is the losing team!..... and it goes on like that. All I know is that Lenoir City was the first high school to do it.
REBELRON
Bearden,Maryville and Oak Ridge has great teams. I definately think these are the 3 best AAA teams in East Tennessee. What is going to be a shame is one of those teams will be sitting at home during the State Tourney. Jordan Damron has played great this season. Ryan Click and Wes Lambert are other good guards also. Any of those guys can get hot. Aaron Douglas and Jay Reynolds needs to play well tonight if Maryville is going to beat Bearden. Douglas was in foul trouble the other night. redandblack63
I dont get where that last statement comes from either of these teams can beat Oak Ridge. They lost to Powell at home, and the region is at Bearden so they have a huge advantage. Maryville, lost to Oak Ridge early without Douglas, Maryville lost the rebounging battle by 15(that wont happen with AD), shot like 20%(wont happen again) Turned it over 20 times, so RandB63 please explain yourself. I believe Bearden will win one of the 5 matchups between Maryville this year, i just hope it isnt the last one. MHS has beat BHS i think 5 or 6 in a row. DEFENSE. The reason for the poor shooting percentage and numerous turnovers is O.R. ability to defend and make the other teams speed up. O.R. can defend Damron so tightly he will have a difficult time getting good looks. They will also defend the dribble penetration which will limit kickout opportunities for Click and Lambert. The only chance will be that Maryville can hurt O.R. inside but again their quickness and athletecism will prevail over the Rebels. As far as Bearden. Average at best guard play. O.R. will exploited Beardens guards at every turn. The only advantage that Bearden and Maryville may have over O.R. is coaching and that would be marginal at best. Like Moc 30 said. There is no one in Distct 4 capable of beating O.R. in the region.

REBELRON
Oak Ridge did beat Maryville earlier this year 66-62. Maryville has lost 3 games this year. All 3 losses were before Aaron Douglas came back from football. Aaron Douglas gives Maryville a big inside inforcer and rebounder. Since Douglas has come back Maryville hasn't lost. In matter of fact since Douglas came back only Bearden has come close to beating them.

As I recall, one of the district 4 teams ended up doing pretty good.

The best coach in the state as i previously stated is the coach at maryville but O.R has a great coach as well. Maryville can easily beat O.R just like O.R can beat them. Bearden can beat either of those two teams as well so its a toss up.
Rebelsfan
Well, Bearden really out-played Maryville and found a way to contain Jordan Damron, although I think we could have shot more three's. The refs werent calling many over the backs but I'm gonna try to not blame the games on the refs. It seems if Bearden misses a shot inside, they always have another guy inside to put it back in on the jump. If you can shut that down, then you can gain about 10 to 15 points. Good thing the season isnt over though, I hope our guys just return to practice hungry to focus more and get better because tougher teams are coming. Congrats to Bearden, for Maryville, it is hard to beat a good Bearden team three times in a row. There might even be another match-up between us....who knows. REBELRON
Bearden whipped Maryville all over the court. I bet that Bearden doubled up Maryville on rebounds. I also think Bearden outhustled Maryville. Demonte Simpson played a very good game. Jenkins played great defense on Jordan Damron. Maryville needs to regroup and get ready for Saturday's game. Norman Dale
So...Final score? Bearden 58, Maryville 42. Maryville was up 30-28 at the half but Bearden held the Rebels to 12 points in the second half. It was a pretty dominating display of defense by the Bulldogs. As Rebelron said, Maryville will have to put this game behind them and get ready to play a very good Powell team on Saturday.
