District: 8

Tullahoma----------is the best team in district! Several players will be playing in college and good pitching and will score plenty of runs. They will be looking down on the other teams while they could only wish they had their talent! But dont think they will see the Boro unless they pay at the door.

Coffee County-----They will be number two to the neighbors up the road, will try hard but will not be able to beat the Wildcats! Never has won the big one since the "Big Man" left to take over at Riverdale he was the last one to take them to the state.....its tough being number two but it beats being last!

Columbia----excellent coach, very good pitching.....could be number 2 and you will have to play your A game to beat them! But lost a lot last year. Plays the short game very well! Will be very strong up the middle and the corners...

Lawrence County----Have been getting better each year, should come in above Shelbyville but want beat the teams above them. They need to play in more tourneys and let their players see better competition!

Shelbyville----New coach, new attitude.......the whole team is back from last year, depends on how they play against the top teams, will be better than last year. But not good enough to make the play-offs. Will be the surprise team in the district by the way they will play!

Lincoln County----Best field in the state! It is all about football in Lincoln County, first 4 batters will be tough outs but then......a major dropoff. This town is not known for softball, just football!!!! Will be lucky to be 500 at the end of the year. What is Lincoln County known for but football?

Franklin County----When is the last time that FC had a good team, another town that isnt known for softball, great coach, good people but they will still finish last! Will have trouble scoring runs, and keeping people from scoring! It want be pretty!

What have you been drinking? You did ok with your picking but you sure dont know what your talking about in some of your remarks which i think where very uncalled for. Since i am from Lincoln Co. I will only talk for what i know on them. Firsst of all they will be mainly a freshman team so dont know how you can say 1 thru 4 all they got when hitting because noway to know even what they will do. And for not being a softball team last yr was a down yr but have had real good teams for several yrs. in fact two yrs in a row winning over 40 ballgames. Not here to argue but hey be nice with your remarks. these are teenage girls .

Looks like Mr Noitall must be from Columbia. I think that this district will be strong from top to bottom. We'll see in the next couple of weeks how good his magic eight ball is.

MrNoItAll - Seems like I remember Manchester winning a "big game" against the BIG MAN himself a couple of years ago.

Every year is different and it doesn't matter who is returning from what team. What is on paper is worth nothing. You have to play the game between the lines.

You have to ready to play in May. One or two injuries or bad breaks can turn a season. And you never know when seniorist will hit your team.

You know its softball time agina since snow is in the forecast. Good luck to all.

I think that it was the 04 or 05 season great game i was there. CC won on an error by a former Coffee player, bottom line that year Coffee was still playing on the Big mans talent. Coffee has went down hill ever year since...

I went to watch Tullahoma today, looked pretty good, though the game i saw it appeared Coach Cardwell was not playing his varsity. I watched a little of CC game and they seemed to struggle with the bats and felt their feilding was unsure, maybe not the right player in spots or not playing. Maybe he didnt have all his varsity players out there.

They square off Thursday, it will be the game on non faculty coaches and could decide who will be the front runner of the district. Tullahoma will win by 3.

Oh NO! MrNoitAll isnt from Columbia he is just telling you like it is! The Wildcats are the best in the district.....Coffee will not be number 1.....could be number 3 behind those Wildcats....and for Lincoln County I will never say bad thing about kids the bad thing is that it isnt a softball town! LC is a football town!!!! Period!!!! You were talking about the 40 game wins.....that has only happen twice in the history of the school! and they HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE BIG DANCE and they want again this year! You all have problems there that need to be addresss before you will ever have a championship team year in and year out. A lot of coaches talk a good game and want to impress people with their talk.....but LC never has done much of winning the big games just the talk. Again MrNoitAll sees LC in the bottom of the district again this year!

I did not realize you have to go to the big dance to be considered a good program. Dang that means there are teams all over the state that most of us thought had good programs but mrknowitall sure has got us straight. So that means Lincoln County with an average of 20 wins plus over the last 10 yrs is considered as not having a good program. WOW mrknowitall could you explain to all us weaker programs what we need to do to improve? We sure would like to get good enough that we would be on your allstar list of schools. It would mean so much to us all. PLEASE HELP US!

Making the BIG DANCE, is the culmination of a successful program. Winning all those games desn't mean a pile of dog @#$% if your team is not competing for a state championship.

    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
    • No yellow stripes on the rug last night. Biggest crowd I’ve seen at 825 since the alco debacle.
    • I know most Pirate starters were seniors last year. Im not sure how accurate it is but someone said we only have 3 seniors. That Prep team will probably make some noise this coming season too.
