Dyer County vs Fulton

Congrats to DC on a great season......Cheers to Fulton's team and coaching staff.....Jeers to about 25 to 30 of Fultons fans...If anyone was out in the smoking section after the game you will know what I'm talking about....all the way from the smoking section, to the DC buss, out to about 100 to 150 yards from the gym. Ask the DC cheer leaders...they were followed to the bus, the were taunted by these fans, some were actually pounding on the bus, then about 50 yards down from the bus they were taunting some DC fans....This after the cheer leaders got on the bus....I think three cop cars arrived on the scence...then about 4 campus police ( I think thats what they were). Saw one DC fan with her two children that looked scared..I asked if she wanted me and a friend of mine to walk her and her kids around this mob scene..she told me she was waiting on her husband...she probably didn't trust me because she didn't know me because I never saw her husband arrive. I stayed back about 30 to 40 yards and watched the end of this mess.....I'm serious....it looked like a mob...would be curious if any DC people on coacht were some of the fans that these vile disgusting taunts were directed at. I know for a fact that some Bolivar fans and players witnessed about half of this because they were outside when it all started....they were as disgusted as I was. This whole incident lasted about 30 minutes...good thing the police got there in time ( 2 police cars at first then they actually called for backup...friend of mine says their were 4 cop cars I only saw three..but that's beside the point). I know these type of situation are rare and I in no way direct this a all Fulton fans...but for these that done this I have NO RESPECT whatsoever for. I didn't hear every single word but I did watch this whole thing unfold from a distance of about 30 to 40 yards from begining to end. Am I the only one or were their others that saw this.

I am not from DC but I have followed this team as well as UC and Bolivar all season...so I am not a DC homer. But I am from Jackson and saw some really good games...this was the only bad expierence of my day and night in the BORO, and it was BAD.

First off, I would like to congratulate our DC boys on an amazing season and express my thanks to them on how hard they have worked all season to make it such a success. I am so proud of them.

Second, I want to thank all of the fans for the support. It was amazing to look around and see about half of the gym covered in orange. You have been there at every game to support DC. Thank You!

Third, I want to congratulate Fulton on the win. That was a great game, and Fulton, you have a great team.

Last, I would like to say that I was one of the cheerleaders that was being taunted by the 30 to 40 Fulton fans. I have never been that scared, EVER! The gestures that they were doing and the things they were saying was horrible. I don't feel that the police that were there did all that they could to stop them, on the account that some of our guys that go to our school was having to stay stuff to them. They were yelling at us, calling us names, shaking their keys, etc. at us on our way to the bus. As if that was not enough, they came to our bus, continuing to do the same to us. It was one of the worst experiences of my life! I will say that one of the Fulton fans that was not sitting right beside the group told us that we have class for not saying anything to the group of people that was doing this to us. We thanked him. I'm not taking anything away from the guys on Fulton's team, nor am I passing judgement on all of the Fulton fans, but this group of 30-40 people made our loss of the game 10 times worse by doing this to us. I don't ever want to hear or see anything on Coach T about how Dyer County has no class after what happened yesterday! Although, I feel that this went way beyond having no class!

Go DC!!! I Love You Guys and I am so happy that I was able to cheer for ya'll this year! Ya'll are awesome! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'm not an at all a Fulton fan however I was at the game showing my mutual respect for the East Tennessee team... Now I'm going to sit here and take up for them because you shouldn't have posted this on here. First of all, this all begun inside the gym when a group of 10 students from your school decided to come over to Fulton's section and sit beside the students and torture them. I mean, those Young Choctaws fans were cussing, calling Fulton players names, and just getting up all in the young Fulton fans faces. Yes, a cop had to come over there when their were reports of this then the cop got mad at one of the young fans(DC fan) sitting behind me and escorted him out all because he asked why he was over there. You know what, as we were taught as young kids, "It takes 2 to tangle!" Don??™t just get on here and point fingers at Fulton fans because of what you seen because your DC students were just as guilty.

That's my take on this situation........ Now take your lost and like a man/woman and cheer for the team that beat you...

Students will say things during games! I do not know what you are talking about with the group of 10 students. I am not saying that it didn't, I'm sure it did. But I am sorry, what happened after the game was ridiculous, and I for one would not want to take up for the group of people that did this. I am sure that our students and fans were not perfect, and I apologize for them doing this and you having to see this. Did you see what happened after the game? As I said I did not know about what happened during the game, but I will not in anyway find something positive about what happened after the game. It was happening to me and it was awful.

Also, I wish Fulton the best in the championship. I am sure it's going to be a great game!

All I can speak to is what is saw with my own two eyes and I have never seen such actions from fans in A LONG LONG TIME....AS A MATTER OF FACT I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT UNTIL YESTERDAY at a highschool game. DC had more fans than anybody and I didn't see them acting like an angry mob. Maybe some were out of hand ...I don't know...Like I said I can only speak for what I saw. Which was at least three cop cars and a hanful of cumpus police...I didn't see anything like that in the gym the whole entire day and night....Maybe I missed something but I think I would have noticed that. If you noticed in my original post I never said all Fulton fans...my thoughts were directed at ony abot 25 to 30.

Mitchell by 25+ and I am not from DC but I am from west tn.

Sorry...but I have witnessed Fulton athletics for more than 20 years and never have I seen or heard about an incident involving Fulton fans taunting opposing fans in such a manner. Not to say it didnt happen, but something must have provoked them to act in this manner.

NOT EXCUSING the actions either way, but I think there is more to the story. We have been to numeorus Football championships and BBall tourneys in recent years and our fans as a majority act with great class. Apologies to those that felt threatened, I am sure the administration will get to the bottom of this!!!

Oh and the +25 point loss...now your being plain stupid!!

Great season DC...you seemed to be a very unique and quality team!

Go Falcons...let's take care of business!!!!

Like I said, I'm sure that not all Fulton fans are like that. I'm sure there is more to the story too, but nothing will change my about what I think about that certain group of people.

Thanks for the apology, even though you probably had nothing to do with it! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The hand gesture: That's the Falcon symbol that the Fulton fans make with their hands, it wasn't anything bad about that.

The key shaking: Have you ever been to a UT basketball game, they're students do that whenever they win. Many other high schools do that as well as colleges.

Man, I'm going to end this right now, to me I think its just a bunch of whinning by you all.. You all had a great season but seeing how you all take a lost is just stupid in my opinion. I'm sorta glad yall lost..... I'm just playing but show some love for real the only thing I'm hearing is what happen after the game. Talk about the game instead of that because the students of FUlton didn't win or lose this game....

Great game! Both teams left it all on the floor and that is all you can ever ask for. No quit in either team. CJ and #24 for Fulton put on quite a show.

your reply was to one of the cheer leaders...apparently she has never experienced anything like what happened. Those type of situations are rare. I don't think any of the comments were directed at the Fulton fans in general just a few bad apples...that all. Good luck to both teams tonight.

Comming off a double overtime thriller against a team like DC..expending that kind of energy....one day later against a team as talented as Mitchell..yes I think it could e 25+ win with a team thats making it's third straight apperance in the state finals.

I wasn't refering to that hand gesture. Yes, I understand about the key shaking, we did it too. I was just describing some of the things that they were doing. I can't say what they were saying on here, because it is so bad. I'm sorry that you think that I'm being a sore loser. I have grown up in sports, and I am anything but a sore loser, maybe you would have seen that if you would have read my statements before I started talking about after the game. I wish Fulton boys the best, I really do, they're a good team. I just do not care for the way I was treated after the game. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Good Luck to Fulton and Mitchell!!!

Yes, those few people were who my comments were directed to. I'm done talking about this.

Go Choctaws and good luck to all of this year's seniors!!!

Good luck to Fulton and Mitchell in the championship!

I was apart of the fulton group that was there. And I have to tell our side of the story.During the game A couple of kids starting saying things about fulton. So fulton fans responded back.I apologize for the way that we were acting. Not all of fulton fans were acting that way including myself. But some of your fans was just acting as bad as fulton was too. It was a cheerleader from Dyer county that flip us off. Thats when fulton responded back. As we were walking down to load the bus a couple of DC fans were making comments to us.Fulton responded back. Fulton then went over To DC bus and started banging on there bus and saying things. Again I apologize. Now the reason for the police cars is because a fan from Dyer county told us " GO BACK TO THE GHETTO U N*****s". Fulton fans got mad and started yelling at him. One of fulton students was about to fight that man ,but a couple of fulton students held him back from doing so.AGAIN I SORRY FOR FULTON"S BEHAVIOR. but it is 2 sides to a story. And trust me they wouldn't have acting that way for no reason. Dyer county is a great team, and we know that. GOOD LUCK next year!

    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
