I remember it from the movie LITTLE BIG LEAGUE... Dang Babe Ruth wasn't made up?? Best I've ever seen was in a college game at UT in the 2001 NCAA regionals.

 

UT was playing Wake Forest, runner slides into second, beats the throw, and is safe. He stands up and is standing on the bag. Time has never been asked for. The UT short stop is holding the ball and asks the runner if he can step off the base so he can wipe it off. The idiot does, short slaps the tag on him, inning over.

 

 

 

Saw something similiar in a HS game last year. Ball down the right field line, runner digging and is a stand up double. When he gets to bag shortstop take the cut off throw and tells the runner it was foul. Runner start trotting toward home plate to hit again and is tagged out. Boy you want to talk about a LIVID coach.

Saw one ina JV game monday night were had Ooltewah had a runner on third and the batter faked the bunt, the whole Ooltewah team yelling squeeze as loud as the can, the catcher jumped at all the yelling, missed the ball and the run scored. pretty clever i think.

before i entered college this year, my last four years of high school ball we always had this work at least once. we had a rosin bag on the mound and had a little team huddle and the first baseman or whichever basse we had a runner on took the ball and hid it in his glove and when the runner led off he got tagged out. the hidden ball trick works usually just make sure the pitcher is not on the rubber when u try this

how about last year in the vandy and michigan game in the regionals???

 

vandy has runners on first and third. the pitcher for michigan steps off and fakes the pick to first. when he does that the runner at third is taught to get a bigger lead in case of a bad throw. when he did that the michigan player whipped around and threw the ball to third and the runner was tagged out.
