rlh
Ok guys here is the rules: The teams to choose from are 94. 99. and 07 . . . What about '69, 77, 74, 85, 86, 87? or the various SVC title teams from the '60s. You have excluded some very very good players. It is possible to put together a "Paper Pirate" team that could beat your "Dream Team." and it would be running the side saddle single wing. Phil Beene would be my Coach. I think a team could be put together from the following list. Chris Ferrell Tony Lollis David Goff David Wyatt Johhny Sisco Carl Lehr Eddie Moore Dewayne Cobb Sam Greer Bo Haden David Hale Mack Moore Tim Moore Rusty Adcock Dale Gibson Mark Allison Trace Matthews Trace Kennemore Keith Lane Chris Jones Zalmer Chubb Willis Mayfield Charles Garner Scot Ellege James Skyles Brent Hill Charlie Brown Jim Wigfall Bill McClain Russel Walker Bruce Mitchell Pete Swafford Eugene Greer Terry Everett Don Blansett Bobby Joe Ford Charles Garner Steve Smith Jim Peoples David Berryhill Roger Ford Eddie Larson Don Grider Tod Morrison David Robinson Jeff Glenn Bruce Glenn Quinton Martin Hub Ballard Reggie Allison Skipper Barnes Edit: Eddie Moore was left off the "Dream Team" so I'll take him. All but E. Moore on this list ran the side saddle single wing. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
bossbro
Old Pirate says Sports Dad #1, it still comes down to production on the field, results and durabilty are vidal. OP knows David has tremendous potential and talent. Special......... you better believe it and OP is NOT attempting to be negative but it boils down to production. OP's response was to the question, "who was really the best back on the 2007 team? OP says this should be his year similar to what Sam Picket went thru. Old Pirate points well taken.Best back was overall ability and willingeness to sacrafice for teams goals.Of course Jones had half the carries of Robert from the wingback position.Best imo means complete, selfless ,running ,receiving, blocking, power, speed and yes cutting is what great backs do. It's called vision.Arguably the 2 best backs in the backfield ever. Only time will tell.Don't forget arguably keyword.Picket, Moore, hmmmm,Tipton,Mitchell wow! What history at South Pittsburg!Maybe bringing home that gold ball back to back will put some questions to rest.We have been blessed with unbelievable talent. And good coaching. It is possible to put together a "Paper Pirate" team that could beat your "Dream Team." and it would be running the side saddle single wing. Phil Beene would be my Coach. I think a team could be put together from the following list. Chris Ferrell .......OP say...Mr. shifty with good arm and desire to win Tony Lollis ......OP says...big strong great atitude David Goff .......OP says... big... never reached his potential David Wyatt .....OP says.... probably the best middle LB ever Johhny Sisco ..... OP says.....former track guy made good Carl Lehr ......OP says.... 1 year wonder, following Sisco Eddie Moore ...OP says.... Great player with great atitude Dewayne Cobb ..... OP says..... tough, Don's sole transfer impact player Sam Greer .....Op says..... cat quick Bo Haden ....Op says..... extremely fast with power David Hale ......Op says.... extremely good for size Mack Moore ......Op says..... good Tim Moore ......Op says.... big & tough Rusty Adcock .....OP says...... average speed, followed blocking well Dale Gibson .....OP says.... good with basic skills, passing, punting & kicking Mark Allison ....OP says...... good with basic skills, passing, punting & kicking Trace Matthews ....OP says....... average Trace Kennemore ....OP says.....average Keith Lane ......OP says..... average Chris Jones ....Op says..... average speed graduated too young Zalmer Chubb ....OP says.... fast Willis Mayfield .....OP says.... good speed and tough inside, younger bro. better Charles Garner .....OP says......average Scot Ellege .....OP says.... average, Uncle Don better James Skyles ..... Jeff Glenn ....OP says.... average Bruce Glenn ...OP says..... average Quinton Martin ....Op says.... tough Hub Ballard ...OP says..... tough for size Reggie Allison .....OP says.... average Skipper Barnes ....OP says.... average Edit: Eddie Moore was left off the "Dream Team" so I'll take him. All but E. Moore on this list ran the side saddle single wing. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Old Pirate is not the only old timer on these boards. But are you really that old or are your telling tales of your great grand-pappy? OP says this thread is limited OP agrees, BUT there is talk about which team was the best? OP says the biggest advantage the older players would have are punting abilities and age, most were 18-19 when playing days were forced to an end. In some cases many were not seniors. Name of a few: Good Boy Allen, Bobby Joe Ford, & William Parker. OP says the advantage of the younger group would be quick strike abilty. The single wing was a grind it out three plays in a cloud of dust type offense

OP wonders about "CG" from time to time. The 2 we have now do a creditable job, but for us old timers....... they're just still youngons. OP sends best regards.......... The Drunken Sailor
Bonner 94 kicker over Jackson 99?? I thought that too at first but then I noticed that he had Jackson in as a DB. And a player could only be on the list once. Old Pirate says HELLO............... OP wonders about "CG" from time to time. The 2 we have now do a creditable job, but for us old timers....... they're just still youngons. OP sends best regards.......... OLD PIRATE LOVES RATTLING CAGES. Actually, that's not "CG." chs4life did the games even before "CG." Both did very, very good jobs back when they were calling games for the Pirates. TheProphet1
NOW THATS A FOOTBALL TEAM. BUT YOU LETT OUT LANCE CLAY. [/quot The topic is the last three state championship teams...Dont get your feathers all ruffled even if you was tougher than a pine not and the meanest ###### to ever come through SP.. You were not one one of the state Champiosnhip teams. And my response to different D-fenses, well the 07 team did run a 3-5 but Im pretty sure they had a Defensive tackle and devensive ends along with DB's and LB's...And as far as the wing T the 99 team ran that also that. Corey was a tailback and a great one..Your more than welcome to combine Halfback and Wingback if that makes feel better about it..
