You might want to correct me on those, I think I ignored a lot of classification changes!

For what it is worth... the football players voted tonight to ask the school board to consider naming the new mascot the TIMBERWOLVES (or some variation) and they want the school colors to be RED and GOLD. Our county has a large Timber Industry and the wolf is a member of the canine family. If you ask me, I think they have watched THE PROGRAM one too many times, but it would be a great mascot.

I think that would be a good nickname, although I'd try to shade that red and gold as far away from FSU (and Cannon Co, for that matter) as possible!

 

I'm just glad they nixed Tigers, Wildcats, Bobcats, etc.

Other names discussed: Crusaders, Bears, Eagles, and Cougars. The boys like the idea of using the term WOLF PACK.

If Clay Co commission decided to close HSHS, would those folks get to vote? What do you get when you cross a Wildcat with a bulldog? Or a timberwolf, for that matter? Or when you mix purple and gold with black and gold?
