6'5" 315 pound freshman last year that was a beast for a small 1A school.

You'd have to establish who made the first contact if anything was to be proven. If you're torn up over this you should contact the TSSAA and let them know the details as you're aware of them. I don't like the idea of recruiting (if this is accurate) but at least they're in Division II and no public school is forced to play them.

If you're going to get on here and write Enworth is recruiting you should be more specific.

Sorry, as to the Ensworth recruiting... I have no hard evidence, however just simply walk over to their college-like campus and look around at who is there. Not the typical people you would expect to be paying 20,000 dollars to attend a college prep school.

Excuse my ignorance, a sincere question: What are the TSSAA restrictions regarding recruiting for DII? I know that giving financial aid is not a problem for DII.

I have no connection with Ensworth at all. But if you don't have hard evidence why even say they are recruiting? If you evidence if just walk on their campus and you don't see the typical people that could pay 20,000 a year to attend are you aware that the D2 private school allot financial aid if their parents cannot afford the school? These schools have an outside company that processes the financial aid forms and are an independant company. Parents have to supply alot of information and forms. The private schools in D2 do not want to keep a kid from having the right to attend the school just because they don't have the money. At least in Chattanooga after they complete the application, go through an interview at the school, have teacher recommendations from past teachers, are given a test to see where they place to see if they are a "fit" for the school and pupil.......then if accepted they can apply for financial aid. This is in place. All you have to do is tour alot of these campuses and see alot of diversity because the schools want to give all that are a fit the possbility of attending....not just the rich. I just wish that people would stop this...unless they have "hard" evidence. If not they need to learn how these schools "really" operate.

Precisely. My understanding is that it is quite simple. If a private wishes to offer financial aid, they have to play DII. No DI private may offer financial aid to a player. If a student receives aid, he / she may not participate in any sport for that school.

I'm not clear however on what constitutes "recruiting" and what the TSSAA's posture is on recruiting.

The big boys, just how much bigger do you think any players on Div II are? I am not aware of any 400 or 500 pounders. This kid may take them to school. Your other statements about recruiting, private schools, and veiled social statements about who can and can't attend a private school are hilarious, keep posting and show everybody how smart you are. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I am tore up over nothing here. I just made the comment that Ensworth does recruit you are the one who blew it up. I have no reason to contact the TSSAA. If you knew the kid & his family like I do then you would say the same thing as me. I have bought him many a meals at McDonalds on Friday before & after the game. It is no way his folks could pay the tuition at all.
