Check out this guys predictions: http://www.tfponline.com/news/2008/aug/03/...e-rugged-again/

William Blount 6th ... interesting. Where's the writer from? Oh yeah, the Chattanooga area. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

So WB folks, what do you think?

Someone who knows, what's the word on Burton? Heard he sustained a fairly serious injury at Saturday's scrimmage.

I am really not taken aback by this prediction all you have to do is look at the quaterback situation and that will tell you why the expectations are so low for william Blount. Zack Witt was in competition for the starting job but has now alledgedly broken his ankle, but more importantly he was Alcoa's fourth string Quaterback when transferred and was competing to start. If you are playing the fourth string quaterback from a lowly 2A school how can you expect to excell in the mightiest region in 5A.

Now 6th may be a little low but they will not finish any higher than 3rd.

I'm sorry you hold Alcoa in such low esteem ("lowly 2A school") but if Zack was the fourth string qb, you guys must be loaded at qb ... it must be a position that the team has "0" concerns about. I've known Zack for a long time and I'm sure glad we've got him at WB. He's not only a hard-nosed competitor, but he's a good kid as well. He'll make a strong addition to both our football and basketball programs if we can just get him healthy and keep him that way.

Being "thesmartestpersonalive" I'm sure you know more about what WB has than any of the rest of us. I hope we can somehow live up to your prediction and maybe snag that 3rd spot in our region.

Govman,

What are your thoughts on the upcoming season? There isn't a lot of info coming out from over there. I have to think we will have a good defense again. The offense worries me a little though. I know Darren will be good but this QB situation makes me a little nervous. What is the teams mindset and chemistry like right now without Meadows?

Go Govs!!

I read that article yesterday. Didn't put alot of stock in it. I knew where the writer was from and historicly he has always "sang to the choir". In my opinion the Govs are much better than he thinks. It is true that we lost alot of great players but the stable wasn't empty. There is still alot of speed on this team and the lineman still look big to me. They are young but coach E has a way of getting the best out of his players. The kicking game concerns me. Hopefully the staff will spend the time to make it solid. I think the defence will be the strength of this team. As the season progresses the young lineman will get better and the offense will be solid.

JandJ has already told about Josh. I've put him on our prayer list and I'm sure you have also. Check your Gov Club e-mail more info....

All you other readers/posters keep Josh in your thoughts and prayers.

In all fairness the govs are a very good football team in a region which is one of the state's best. They have had one good season in the past 4 years. The govs should play with a chip on their shoulder (being predicted to finish 6th) but once again, Young QB, very versitile RB, inexperienced and soft o-line, one go-to reciever, defense that brings a big backer who needs speed, one returning DB(as good as it gets in east TN), one returning DE, and a backer who played only 3 games coming back from a knee injury. So to say one of the best in east TN is an over statement.

Glad you could grace us with your company. Did you just find this website or did you forget your screen name and password. I'l be sure to pass the word to the "soft o-line" and others you spoke of . Better yet why don't you show up and tell them or coach E. their soft. . These young men practiced against a very strong defence last year and I'm sure they learned alot in the process..... Tell how many practices have you seen or is this just speculation or a wild a.. guess???

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
