can anyone say how the indians did against Grainger county? I've yet to hear word about it at all.

I think the final was 8 scores to 1, Oneida. The Indians 2nd defense gave up the only score. However, the Indian 2nd team did have an awesome goal line stand. First and goal from the 5. Grainger Co gave up the ball on downs on the 20 yd line. I did not stay to watch the youngsters. Grainger may have scored on them.

Opened up the offense some more. Man, it's great to see Tory out there. Still missing a couple of starters that will be back next week. Another good scrimage. Fewer mistakes. Looks like TL and Coach Wright got the boys focused on getting better each and every week.

Grainger Co is supposed to be in the hunt for the Reg 1 -3A title this year. They were very big and strong, average speed. Their QB is the #4 best player in basketball this year. I thought it was awsome when Cheese ran him down from behind

The Oneida boys did an outstanding job showing pride, class and character against some pretty chippy play. Who in the world gets a personal foul - face mask penalty in a scrimage? Late hit on the Oneida QB! Jeez Louise boys! oh well.

To all the Oneida faithful, let's just keep one thing in mind. We are just @ the second scrimmage of the year & we have a long season filled with a lot of very talented teams. We need to keep our heads & not get caught up in the trash talking & the hype game. Our guys are a great bunch of young men but so are the other teams. I would like to ask we support the team the best way we know how & I don't think putting a bunch of garbage on these boards which will ultimately just put a big bulls eye on their backs is the best support we can give. They WILL do their part to the best of their ability so I think WE should do ours to the best of our ability. PCC on three. . . . . . . .

Yea, LA is a power. They won 1 game last year and that was against Stone. Stone would be lucky to finish out of the cellar in Region 2-A.

Who is your team buddy? I bet they wouldn't stand a chance against the Indians. This is the strongest Oneida team in a long long time. Go Oneida.

/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Make that assessment AFTER the season is over, A.M. That line should be more like....this team has the potential to create a buzz not heard in several years now. There have actually been some fairly strong line-ups over the years that for whatever reason (injuries, mistakes, turnovers) just didn't get the job done. The boys gave a solid effort Friday, and the offense seemed to play to their strengths. Both QB's looked solid and the passing game looked "healthy" with the exception of a few drops. Of course the running lanes were good because every time you looked up there seemed to be a back racing into the secondary. Lambo's Defense was it's usual self, which didn't exacly let Grainger Co. do a whole lot. When Grainger Co. scored they only had three first downs up to that point.....I know because I kept count! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> I assume the Jamboree will settle things in for the much anticipated match-up with Rock-vegas! Good Job, Boys!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
