I have heard that BA hasn't looked great in their scrimmages, but I still see them as possibly one of the best in the state. Indy has looked a lot better than I thought they would in preseason, which is encouraging, but I still think this year will go a lot like last year. That won't reflect on Indy's season as a whole though. It helps the Eagles to get beat up a bit at the beginning of the year, as they proved last year.

In my opinion one of the reasons for your encouragement, is a very, very good coach at Independence.

The running game is still strong. We have the back who filled in for Chris Jordan during his injury and rushed for 119 yards against MBA, which is a major accomplishment. We have the same problem as last year. Huge questions a QB and a lot of work to do in the passing game. If you can't create the need for us to pass (like MBA did twice last year), you could be in trouble.

I'm old fashioned, but I do admire a team that can come out and run the ball down your throat. there is nothing like being able to wear a team down with a long rushing drive. It's demoralizing, and eats up the clock.

if BA's OL & DL can play with a sense of urgency and intensity then i can see it being a rough night for INDY. INDY's skill guys will play their game as usual and should expect big things from. I just see protection problems for INDY and the BA team creating some good running lanes for its backs. Special teams should be a toss up, but momentum and it being the first game of the year always makes things interesting. should be a lot of fun. good luck to both

After watching the BA/Hillsboro scrimmage and the MBA/Indy scrimmage I believe that BA will win this game by at least three TDs. Indy has a ways to go on both sides of the line. BA has several D1 players in the line. Indy does not have that kind of talent. All the BA QBs will need to do is to get 'em out of the huddle and get the play off in under 25 seconds, hand the ball off and be able to throw screen passes to win. BA's defense will, more than likely, take care of the rest. Two things are for sure about Indy, they will give a good effort and they will not quit.

i agree that indy will have a tough time moving those boys from BA on both sides of the ball, for Indy to win heckman will need to carry the team on his shoulders and the Defense cannot let BA have long drive after long drive after long drive happen, saying that i cant see this happening as BA will take by at least 21- this is a good teset for INDY and will help them when region play comes about hope all players come away healthy

Independence knows a thing or two about that.

Congrats to BA on a hard fought 34 21 victory. Indy stayed very much in this game until BA was finally able to punch in a decisive TD with about a minute left. I know there is a lot of talent there, but I don't think anyone who saw this game tonight could say that this BA team is anywhere near the best team in the State right now. It was a very sloppy game (not totally unexpected since it is week 0) and I don't think the D line or the O line lived up to the expectations. It will be interesting to see how they respond -- I would expect a pretty intense week of practice.

I think Indy will have a good year. They fought hard and had their receivers held on to some of the long balls (3 or 4 dropped that would have been TD's or at least long gains) the outcome of this game might have been different. The QB looked good but ended up with 4 INT's which killed Indy in the end. I think BA's MVP was Renfro, the punter/long kicker. He had 4 punts inside the 20 (3 of which were inside the 10) and a 40 yard FG.

Got a lot of growing to do in a short amount of time . . .

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
