Recommended Posts

Man i wish i could take my words back talkin about how much class oneida fans have its only the beginning of the week and the ole indians are already talkin blow out, that sounds like a joke to me. Hopefully there team aint as sorry this year as they have been known to be in the past. oneida winning this game 35-14 sounds like a FLUKE to me. It looks to me like were goin to give the ole indians a rude awakening this week, were putn em back in there place, the bottom that is.

Mr. Hampton.....don't take your words back, Kazito is in the box. Where is my boy, Pujo? We had a real solid win against an excellent football team this past week, you can't help but to be a little giddy about that! I have absolutely no idea how you faired against Johnson Co., but I wouldn't think it is going to make much of a difference in the outcome this Friday Night. I will say this, your getting ready to see some of the same players you saw last season, only they have gotten a bit stronger and much more comfortable with the staff. Rockwood never got any momentum in the second half of the game last week, and they had good speed and size. I know Hampton will too, heck that Roop kid was HUGE, in more ways than one! (glad he has moved on) Our defensive linemen had an average (for them) game last week, I'm sure they are going to be much more motivated this week. If they are, Oneida should win the battle up front. (not a boast, I'm going by what I saw last season) I look forward to the results of this game because our chances this season should be much better. I'll be around Pujo, look forward to hearing from you. Hope your wife hasn't been swinging the skillet early this year. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

I have been looking forward to this week. We have two teams that don't loose. Did Hampton get beat last year, sure. So did Oneida. However, The teams that won had to Take victory. It didn't just fall from a tree. You have to play all four quarters against both these squads or you will loose.

Put both teams on the same field. Man, thats a tackle football game! Only the good Lord knows whats going to happen. Could one team run the other off the field. Yep, for all different kinds of reasons. Chances are, this is gonna be a doozie of a football game. Doesn't get much better than this in late August.

Onieda will get REVENGE at home /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Man I hate to tell you, but Oneida has to travel to the dog pound this week, . 3 hour drives are hard on a team. get up and go to school, then drive half day. I think Hampton takes this one easy/ you look at last years games Hampton get the win at Oneida after a missed extra point and afield goal, but when they drive to Hampton It was a 14 point game.and I was told that Oneida had 6 or 7 not dressed out last week, a couple more go down during the game. , so I say 21 7 the dogs

Hampton fans have predicted blowouts of their opponents for the last three years now. So don't complain when the other side starts firing back. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

My bad I thought it was at Oneida for some reason. I take back my previous prediction. Oneida DOES get revenge at the puppy pound. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Im just kidding, I really thought it was at Oneida. They aint gonna beat HAMPTON up there. Good luck to both.

First, this aint last year. You can get bigger, faster stronger if you work out in the off season. Where a team was and where it's going are two completely different things.

Second, You were TOLD. You never come and see! I was told Santa Claus was real. Found out that wasnt true. By the way, there is no easter bunny either. Just face it. Oneida is very good team this year.

Yep, that long drive makes it impossible to win. I bet Hampton wouldn't be able to drive over here and beat Oneida. Or Coalfield in a bigtime play off game. Yeah, that ole drive pretty much rules out a victory for the visting team.

It's all about discipline and focus, boys. The drive over will be the least of Oneida's concerns.

This game will get as ugly as Hampton's uniforms. Oneida will be too much for them. The Indians are Big, strong and fast. They are at least a touchdown better than the two Hampton teams they faced the last couple of years. You also have to consider they have the best defense in the state and Lambert calling the D. I can't wait to see how bad we put it on Hampton. They talked all that smack the last few years and now its Oneida's turn. Oh yeah can anybody answer me this up there in Hampton, how many state championships do you all have in football? Go Oneida (1992 State Champs)

Old Pirate says ole Splitback is doing some cage rattling. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> OP would luv to see these two go at it. The game will be a good measuring stick for both programs. OP sees this a toss up, but OP thinks Oneida by 7.

Good Luck to both teams.

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
    • Dyersburg scrimmaged South Gibson last week
    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
    • No yellow stripes on the rug last night. Biggest crowd I’ve seen at 825 since the alco debacle.
