Baylor is the best, but how can you leave out Houston High when they return all 5 players from the team that won the AAA state championship last year.

 

Cory Gaylord is their top player and he lost the individual Championship in a playoff. They may not be playing as well right now but they will be tough over the next 3 weeks...

Other than Cory, who are the other members of the Houston High Varsity and how many kids did they lose to graduation?

Today Dekalb County is the best. They won their Region as a team and Payne Denman was low medalist with a 68 and Austin Garrett was second with a 72.

Other than Cory, who are the other members of the Houston High Varsity and how many kids did they lose to graduation?

 

 

 

They return all 6 players that participated in the state tournament last year. One of those did not qualify and was beaten out in a playoff for the alternate spot. They have 6 kids that can and have shot below par in varisty matches this year.

 

Collierville beat them 295 to 298 in the district tournament but expect the region to be won with a 292 or better. Aside from these two teams there is only one other player in the district that can consistently break 80.

 

Last year Houston beat Collierville 302 to 304 in the regional on same course the teams shot this years scores on.

 

Collierville has 3 kids that can go very low and the other two will be right at 75-78.

As I said Houston has 4 kids that can do the same low scores.

Collierville will be lucky to win the region but might have all 4 of the boy's individual spots.

all i know is that steven fox has to be the favorite to win state. Also dalton dishman could be a sleeper to place high.

Other than Cory, who are the other members of the Houston High Varsity and how many kids did they lose to graduation?

 

Houston shot 291 with two penalty strokes. It was a +1 team effort on a difficult and windy day. I think Houston has a great shot a defending their title. The kids have worked hard and are peaking at the right time. During the season they played without their #2 from last year, Cameron Thomas, due to injury and Nathan Johnson and Josh Bratcher have been solid carrying 73.6 and 74.2 averages into the post season.

Gaylord is the engine but this is a very proud Senior loaded team. Those 4 are all capable of under or at par. If Cory can get under par for the tournament, it may be enough to lead them to back-to-back titles.

Houston also has the girls flying under the radar but they shot +2 team score for the Region tournament. That will be very hard to beat if they can continue their steady play.

It is hard to put Baylor in the conversation as that is comparing apples to oranges. Most schools do not have an international recruiting base from which to choose from. Let's compare public schools and see how everyone ranks that catagory.
