Ooltewah vs Farragut

Deliberately leading with your helmet under the chin of a QB in a likely attempt to cause injury or put him out of the game is a bush league cowardly punk move and it deserved at a minimum a penalty and probably the kid should have been ejected. Coach Courtney was absolutely right and justified to be livid over the no call. In fact the tape should be sent to the TSSAA for review and possible after the fact action against the player.

You're assuming it's deilberate. Why would the linebacker try to knock the quarterback out of the game? They're putting the beatdown on your team, why would they need the quarterback out? I'm going to give a high school kid playing the game of his life the benefit of the doubt and say it was an unfortunate play. I think your eyes are still recovering from watching your team take a beatdown, which tends to make an accidental H to H look deliberate.

Man do i LOVE that everyone was grilling me for sayin Farragut would be region champs, and i was right all along. The four pages discussing it made me laugh very hard. All of you who disagreed with me should go find a gun, and shoot yourself directly in the head. The best was the guy who welcomed me to the board, and told me to read the rules...TOO dang FUNNY!!

Stuart,

Did you go to Farragut? If so when? I was friends with a Stuart Row when I graduated in the 80's

As a fan of no team, I'm in a position to know that the state supervisors of officitaing will review the film. There will be no "after the fact" penalties assessed to the player (which there never would be, this is not the NFL). The only thing that can be appealed is the coach's ejection and suspension - which I don't think anyone will argue that was earned. When reviewed at regular speed from a different angle, it was clear the defensive player made contact first to the body, which caused the quarterback's head to jerk back. While it is understandable for fans to debate whether the hit was "high", to argue it was late is rediculous. Again, I'm not siding with either group, just know that this stuff is reviewed by qualified people other than the amatuer officials in the stands and on message boards.

On another note, to call a child (which they still are, even in high school) a cowardly punk is absolutely unfounded and classless. Unfortunately, it is representitive of what we see from a large percentage of fans across the state each week. There is not a person in this discussion whose life is in any real way impacted by the outcome of any high school athletic event. Teams win and teams lose. Life goes on.

This team will be back and maybe you will not be 50-50 SENSE YOU WERE A FORMER FARRAGUT FOOTBALL PLAYER or are you a BAND WAGON JUMPER. I would put your name on here but everyone knows who you are. Can't want to read about you on Maryville message site about Farragut playing them next year.

Falling apart just like the team last night im loving this. (YOU ARE A GREAT FORMER FARRAGUT FOOTBALL PLAYER) Why don't you just stay on DB's message site and fight with them.

I appreciate the compliment but i would like to talk farragut football lets just have a truce and try to get along on here. By the way ou were a great high school athlete as well an you are very creditible.

There are lots of teenagers in the world who could rightly be classified as punks. A kid 16, 17, or 18 is old enough to know right from wrong for the most part, and old enough to be held responsible for their actions. What defines a person is not what someone calls them, but how they live and what they do. This kids actions define him not me. If he doesn't want to be known as a cowardly punk then he needs to quit pulling bush league stunts on the football field.

And if you don't want to be known as the biggest idiot on CoachT, then you should probably let your anger go after your team lost this game, and realize that it was an accidental play. This linebacker's intentions weren't to hurt anybody, he just try to make a good play. I seriously am in disbelief that someone would actually consider that a dirty, malicious hit.

#44(defensive tackle) did nothing wrong in my opinion...He hit the QB(who played one heck of a game by the way, i love the way he stood in the pocket and played tough despite the relentless pass rush) within one step of him releasing the ball...Sorry if the hit looked or was a little high, but there was no malicious intent regardless a kid who is giving his all for his team and team-mates should not be ridiculed on some post by being called a "punk with bush league moves"

omg you are kidding right I mean seriously. Why would he be trying to put your qb out of the game. It was late in the third quarter right before they put the subs in. I know he is a good quarterback but NOT a threat all night. Give me break. DId you know Coach Courtney came in the Owls locker room and addressed the team after the game? ASK him. I will let you in on something. Youre getting ready to play a pretty good team next week and it won't be easy. Owls gotta go to Oak Ridge who is never an easy win. Let see how it all plays out. You guys may have your chance for redemption /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

First of all, I couldn't care less what you or anybody else on this or any other forum thinks about me. Secondly, I am seriously in disbelief that many Ooltewah fans would be defending such a blatent display of at a minimum extremely poor judgement (and that is giving the kid the benefit of the doubt which I don't really think he deserves) that should have been flagged, and at worst, a malicious deliberate attempt to hurt someone (which I think was the case after looking at the replay). Furthermore, I am seriously in disbelief at the continued arrogance, lack of good sportsmanship and classless manner in victory shown by the Ooltewah fans on this board. What a pathetic lesson and example for the kids of Ooltewah. Ooltewah has by far an away outstripped any classlessness I have seen from any fan base in the state, in the 3 years I have been reading this board. My anger is directed towards these things, not the game. As far as the game itself goes, we were drastically outplayed and just got our butts beat. I am disappointed about it but not angry. Ooltewah deserves all the congratulations in the world for the game, with the exception of the play in question.

You call a kid that you don't know, on a public forum, a "punk with bush league moves" and you have the nerve of calling other people "classless". WOW!

If you want to see someone classless just look in the mirror.

I dont care what any of you say the coach DID make a unsportsman like gesture to the Owls coach......he gave him a thumbs up and then he swung his hand at him as if go jump in the lake!!!!!!!!!! I SAW WHAT I SAW so no need to argue about it, he was right in front of me and end of story. Oh by the way i still think the QB for Farr. is one of the best QB s in the state even though he didnt get a chance to show it last night to much but when he throws IT S ACCURATE and has some zip.......very good athlete just didnt get to show it last night BUT HE S GOOD.....NO DOUBT.

Those of us sitting right infront of the TV saw the exact same thing you saw as well dude. They were zoomed in on the coach the whole freakin' time he was being escorted out. Everyone saw the same thing - you're just interpreting what he meant by it differently than everyone else. He had NO reason to diss Monroe - he was upset at the officiating.

If Soddy Daisy beats Ooltewah, and Farragut wins out. Farragut would win the region wouldnt they? Because you would have a 3-way tie. Ooltewah beat Farragut, Farragut beat Soddy Daisy, Soddy Daisy beat Ooltewah. Then it would come down to overall wins.. ?

And with the hit. I don't know what the paper was talking about with a forearm to the back... Unless that was later when he was on the ground...

And this hit is the exact same situation that Boise State was in when they played Oregon. Boise had a late hit on the qb and he hit him exactly how the Ooltewah guy hit Reese. Except Boise's was actually late, but no one was focusing on that. Everyone was focusing on the "helmet to helmet" part. Its the exact same. Most of the Boise State fans refused to believe it wasn't a bad hit, everyone else seemed to disagree.

is a vid for that.. plus a play where the Boise player got ejected for "targeting a defenseless player" which was ridiculous. Not going for the ball when your a WR doesn't make you defenseless.

The hit wasn't even close to the same.
