The best rivalry in high school football has arrived. I have had the opportunity to see both teams practice and scrimmage and believe that both teams are fairly close in terms of talent. South Pittsburgh has decent speed and athleticism, but is prone to break down and give up big plays on both sides of the ball. They will rely heavily on running back jones and will go as far as he can carry them. The pirates have problems at quarterback as the play from that position has been erratic. Marion looks similar to the team they had last year. The warriors have decent size but are lacking for speed, especially in the secondary, which is the teams weakest position. Marion doesn't appear to have many standouts and will have to perform collectively.

OUTLOOK: Neither team will dominate the other and the game should be a typically competitive affair. As usual, the team who makes the fewest mistakes and is able to capitalize on the opportunities that occur will win. Marion is the deeper team and gets more consistent play from the quarterback position. These two factors will result in the warriors claiming the victory.

If the Jamboree is any indication South Pittsburg looks to be a more passing team this year as oppossed to the past with a couple of good receivers also in the 2 quarters Marion Co. played in the jamboree they appeared to get tired easy which they can't do if they want to win games this year.

South Pitt. 28

Marion Co. 24 :(

Well, I was at the jamboree and Jasper does not impress me as they did in years past. They have 2 good lineman and a decent QB...the 2 running backs are ok...but the team is out of shape and it shows....I sit in the stands and thought, we could really beat them bad this year IF we are still in it by 2 quarter.....they can be explosive, but Jasper is not the Jasper of old....sorry guys..

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
