hahhhahahaah....I have argued with just about everyone at one time or another on here. Take a number. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

I am sure that you know more about this situation than I do. Pretty sure that I know why. Seems like this must be a done deal? All I know is if this is indeed true....the Blackman Vs Smyrna rivalry will hit a whole new level equal to Oakland Vs Siegel!! It is going to be HEATEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!! Will Mitchell leave Smyrna and be the DC for him there? Will he keep Wells on staff? Will the boosters pay for Robbins?

maybe he means its more coaching because you dont have as many coaches in a 1A school as you woiuld a 5A school

Exactly....not as many coaches and not as many players. So many would probably have to go both ways.....so more coaching. I doubt you would have a def. staff and a seperate off. staff like we do at OHS. Does MTCS even have a freshmen team or do they all play varisty? Shad made great strides this yr. I would think with Trousdale moving up that would be an incentive to stay in 1a instead of having to tangle with Maryville in 6a.

if it is the coach from GA...he runs a wing -T and went 6-5 last year in 7A ball...

is that what blackman wants? the wing -T and a little better than 500 record...

but maybe he is "THE ONE"...and will do a good job...time will tell

I think we all saw how well the wing-T worked for Oakland last year. Although I'm not a Blaze fan (for obvious reasons) I hate to hear that for them. When we went to it last year I heard from several different people that college recruiters HATE that offense and it is much harder to judge talent on a team that runs it. I know Riverdale used it quite successfully but how many of their players were recruited to D-1 schools?

OH my that makes it the gospel, I love it when someone says I heard, A year ago Riverdale had an entire offensive line that signed D1. Did you you hear from those same people what offense the college recruiters wanted to see? After all everyone knows this area is loaded with D1 talent

Please no sarcasm ShadowofSon.

The only way to determine the offense is to poll the seniors as to where they want to play college. Then run the offenses those particular colleges run. Then you can expose all of your seniors for the college coaches...the goal of all high school programs. On that note, Oakland should be disqualified from any further games...how dare they run the Smokestack I and an unbalanced offense. I bet not a single college coach will consider ANY of their players.

And just when I was going to thank you for coming to my defense! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
