Maybe the coach does not agree with the mother of Talent, and thinks the Senior has more talent!!! Makes more sense than the question! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Everyone says talent, But I think more often than people would like to admit you see Seniority getting to play over younger talent. Some coaches are content with winning games not championships.

You have some fresh NEW talent out there and they are being bypassed because of seniority. So I think it was a good question. You have a junoir or senior playing and you have a freshman or sophmore who's better who's not getting playing time because of seniority......Is it trust on the coaches behalf?

you have close to a month between tryouts and the first game so the the 5 most consistent talented, hardest working players over that span of a month will hit the floor first. period. The upperclassmen will get the first shot at proving his or herself but the young talented kid will also get the opprtunity to show they belong

There is some of that, but most fans and all parents tend to see what they want to see. If you want to see things more like a coach, Keep "net stats" over about a five game period. Keep up with points and rebounds of the girl each of your players is guarding then subtract those from your players totals. There is always a suprise to be found. A player getting 8/game with 10 rebounds while giving up 6 and 4 is better than the snowbird who scores 17 and gives up 20. Just a thought.

It's your coach's decision. Just be patient. Your kid will play soon enough.

How does someone with seniority and talent that was a starter for 2 years overcome no playing time because of politics?

This is a good response. The question seems to be taken by some as asking if freshman should be given starting roles over an upperclassman. At this point in girls basketball, with AAU play and off season workouts and with there being some very developed, in size, players showing up on the scene, Freshman or Sophmore post players have a giood chance and might decidedly be better athletically. "Just be patient, its your coach's decision si definitely the right step. If a schools talent level is down and an underclassman comes in playing like a sophmore or junior, the same answer is still there. "Be patient, your kid will play soon enough" and will be better for it. A strong bench is needed in every school.

It's commonly known that AAU 6th, 7th, and 8th graders play at least one grade higher and sometimes two grades higher when they reach high school so those players are really higher in ability than their grade seems. However while their grade play is higher, they may have some down side slightly in other areas. The play is the difference in HS teams consistantly having reload capabilities.
