I agree with 13aafanatic with whom the final 8 in single A will be at the Boro. All posters are saying CR or JC hands down, well upsets can happen. Anything can happen on any given night. All I'm saying is don't count the other teams out, we'll just have to see in a month.

Where's the caliber of talent on CR? Are you kidding? Of course I know JC can beat the LA Sparks as well and keep Candace Parker in single digits and probably single handedly win a gold medal at the Olympics for the good 'ole USA so who am I to point out that both CR and Upperman have beaten them by 19 points in the two games that each of them have played. You insulted every team in this entire area when you said that no one around here had anything near the talent level of that team in Florida. That is pure BS and you know it.

You are too easily insulted! First of all, I love watching the talent in this Upper Cumberland area play, and we have some very good teams that are well represented by players and coaches. But let's be realistic for a minute: How many of these girls have 2 players on their team that will go on to play big time college ball? One poster said that only about 3-5% of all players even receive scholarships which I would agree sounds realistic to me. We played a team with 2 exceptionally good players and they had us beat in height and muscle and probably speed. Somehow we managed to make the plays we needed to make at the right times. I was excited to see our girls play like that, but that is the past, and today is a new day. What we did yesterday doesn't matter; we have to set our sights on this next run of play. CRange is undefeated which is a great accomplishment for any team, but I do think it benefits any team to stay level-headed and grounded. I know you don't represent all of the fine people in Clarkrange, but I find your comments to be arrogant at times. I really think great players learn to have respect for other great players or they usually end up wishing they had.....

You are wasting your breath, I have already had this conversation with KGM. But you can keep trying if you have nothing better to do or are amused by some of the arrogant banter that will be spewed. I agree with you about level headedness and respect. If you don't have those (which these girls do, maybe not all the fans) you will pay eventually.

oldskool and bball, I see you're both from Marshall Co. I have seen you guys play this year and aware of what ya'll bring to the table. Lauren March and NeNe McLean are 2 GREAT players! Also, you have your coach, lol. He seems to let his emotions get caught up in the game, but he is one heck of a coach, lol. I saw McMinn and Upperman last year at state and aware of what they return. I'm still positive that Marshall Co. will be the team to beat up there this year. Marshall is so quick and so athletic for anyone to match up with 5 on 5. Play a zone and hope Marshall Co. don't shoot lights out like they did last year against Gibson Co.!!!!

Yes, you cannot get much better than Lauren and NeNe. These young ladies bring so much to the game and they also provide great leadership to our girls that are not so experienced. Coach West is a very passionate and intense coach. He is always coaching no matter what the score is until the buzzer sounds at the end of the 4th quarter lol. I really think that this will be a great state tourney no matter who the elite 8 will be. Sometimes its not always the best team that get there. It is the team that wants to be there the most. All of the teams have to keep in mind that at any given night, you can be beaten. There were teams last year that I just knew would get there but unfortunately did not make it to the Boro, for example, Obion County. Those young ladies were well coached and tough as nails last year during the Thanksgiving tourney and I had no doubt that they would be in the Boro. I was very shocked when they didn't make it.

I am not the least bit insulted. Had your original post been worded like this one then I would have not reacted the way I did BUT my interpretation of what you wrote originally was that no other team JC would face was nearly as good as the team they beat in Florida which is hogwash if that's the way you meant it. Apparently you did not mean to insult CR, LA, Upperman, etc. but that's the way I took it so no harm done. CR played a team in sub-state a few years back with a big, talented girl who signed a scholarship with Mississippi State and she was a great player but CR ran them off the floor. One or two great players does not a team make as you know. We are all very fortunate to be able to watch District 7 basketball because it is the best in the state if not everywhere. Great talent and great coaching.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
