13AA Championship

Gibson Co. (27-0) and Westview (27-3) square off for a 3rd time this season in the District Championship Saturday night at 7:30. Gibson Co. is coming into the championship after a huge win over the Milan Lady Bulldogs by the score of 74-38. Westview is coming off of a OT victory of Obion Co. Central by the score of 78-66. This will be a home game for Gibson Co. as the District tournaments are being held at Gibson Co.

 

GC defeated Westview @ GC by the score of 55-59 in OT.

GC defeated Westview @ Westview by the score of 54-58.

Looks like the game the week too me. A six point total difference in regular season play? Well matched teams, the way I see it. The Chargers could have, third time charme in this one.

 

The wizard of westview could get bitten by his old school.

Gibson County fans (myself included) better BEWARE! Do not be surprised at all if Westview hangs the first "L" on the Pioneers tonight. WV matches up quite well with GC in talent, depth and coaching. WV Coach Stevenson is one the very few coaches who is not outclassed by the McMillan/Russell coaching dynasty. I am expecting a down to the wire nail biter. It's should be a dandy. Be there!

Gibson Co. definately looked like a state championship ready team tonight. All 5 starters and the subs played extremely well tonight. Rechis for Westview came out of the gates on fire scoring 9 or 11 points in the first quarter. No one else really stepped up for Westview well enough to keep them in the ball game.

 

This game was for district bragging rights, but the REAL tournament play starts up next week in the Region tournaments when it's win or go home! I hope to see Westview in the championship along with GC of course. I feel these 2 will represent rural West TN and all of West TN well in the state tournaments.
