Maryville-2

Pepe saved our field and let us play at Maryville College. Conditions were great considering the terrible weather. Maryville had the better first half, but TN High was able to put Maryville on their heels in the second. Good luck to TN High the rest of the way. It is always great to see Coach Valente and company.

Farragut 1

Oak Ridge 1

 

Ugly game; 38 and rainy. Farragut only played about 20 minutes - first 10 and last 10, while Oakridge picked it up in the middle part of the match. Both goals off of headers; Farragut early 1st half, a set piece about 25 yards out Ishmael put ball to about 8-10 yards out and Stinton flipped it past Ryan with no chance to stop. Oakridge header resulted from a poor Matlock clear (throw) directly to a SoccerCat, ball eventually chipped to an open Pugh(?) left side of goalie box for open net header. Oakridge played well in spots, but really didn't have much penetration. Admirals outshot them by a 9-3 margin and corners favored Admirals as well, just couldn??™t put it in net more than once. It's early and likely will match up again during payoffs.

 

Earlier post wondered about the #1 rating legitimacy. Team reloaded with a strong junior class. Sr. class has some good role players, but having only two impact leaders, Grieco, MacLellan, may hurt down the road, though juniors do have ability to step it up.

mccallie went to atlanta and played 3 games this Friday and today. Played Carollton ranked number 1# 3a team in Ga first. Flue has run throughout the team and we played without 4 starters, score was 0-0, next we played Norcross won 2-1 and then a school from Columbus Ga and ran out of gas and lost 1-0. Really proud of the team showed a lot fight against very good teams. It was wet and cold as it was everywhere else. Will be nice to get a full starting 11 on the field and healthy. Hope that happens soon.
