Alcoa 6 Seymour 1

1-0 Alcoa in the first half and Seymour was competing and getting opportunities, one of the kids loses his head and gets a straight red. We could not hang with Alcoa shorthanded. Not an excuse the outcome may not have been different, but we certainly could not keep up 11 on 10.

Congratulations Alcoa and Coach Gorman!

Good Luck to Gibbs, Carter and Alcoa, After 6 years of frustration I would love to see one of "our guys" make it out of the region. I think this could be the year.

Seymoursoccer so true....I saw Alcoa earlier this year and it is tough to hang with a team that only uses one or two touch passing when your down a player.

Carter 5

Gibbs 1

coach Dave had his boys ready to play. They held a 1-0 advantage over Carter much of the first half. Mark Sherrod had a goal in the 27th min and the 35th min giving Carter a 2-1 advantage at the half.

Very hard fought game the whole way through. Congratulations to Dave and all the Gibbs players...they came to play! Great game and closer than the score would indicate.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
