Cloudland at Unaka

Didn't think this would be much of a game, but now it looks like it could be a nailbiter. Not sure, but Cloudland may have lost one of their best lineman and got another player suspended for the game. Unaka probably knows they have a chance and Cloudland don't look nearly as good as alot of people thought they would be. I really don't get it, I actually thought they would be pretty good. After last nights game,it looks pretty bleak. With Hampton playing NG ,nothing but a total beatdown ,guess I might get to watch it.Could be an exciting game. Go LANDERS.

I get it. If you'll look back at a post I made during the spring, I made a comment about the lack of discipline and that this bunch would be hard for a coach to handle. Too much hot doggin and dancin' around, cheap shots, taunting, throwing tantrums and helmets for that matter. Thats not Cloudland football. I think we have settled for accepting things as they are instead of dealing with them. The result is no improvement from one week to the next. Its the little things that count. I guess they won't like what I have to say this week either, but you know what, I bought the keyboard I'm typing on.

You might be surprised at how many people agree with you. Alot of people were disapointed and even embarrased at what went on last night. This is not what people have grown to expect in Roan Mt. Going to take alot to right the ship.

I'd say a lot of people do agree with me. I guess I'm the only idiot crazy enough to post it on this website. I have loved this program dearly since 1988 when I first started following it. Even after my playing days were over, I had a hard time letting go. I kept stats for 4 seasons after my playing days were over. I showed up at practice more than some players. Unless someone knows how good it used to be, they can't understand where I'm coming from today.

What exactly went on Friday nite? I haven't heard. I am very surprised Cloudland lost to Avery. I really don't understand how they are playing so bad. They have some talent up there.

What went on was really sad. Cloudland played neck to neck with Avery for most of the first half. It was 10-7 late in the first half when our team was facing a 4th down inside our OWN 40 yard line. Well, we barely made it to move the chains when we were faced with another 4th down. This time, the punter takes the snap and runs right into the heart of the Avery defense and comes up short by about 6 yards. Avery takes over inside our territory and drives it down and scores right before halftime to make it 17-7 and we never recovered. I know there are times to gamble but during the second quarter and down only by 3 pts.?? It all comes down to fundamentals. You have to be able to block, tackle, and protect the football. You have to be disciplined and play with controlled violence. You have to love destruction to play this game. So much of it is mental. Most of the time if a lineman gets whipped, he was already whipped before he lined up.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
