If I'm wrong it wouldn't be the 1st time. Not really that big of a deal. I'm just going by what has been released to the press after the TSSAA figure out that the way they originally had it they had more qualifiers than playoff spots in 5-A and I think 3-A as well.

 

If that scenario plays out (which it probably won't) they take the 2nd place teams from those districts and apply the tiebreaker rules in order to get the 32 teams.... Bottom line is if you finish in the top half of your division in your district, you go to the playoffs. If you finish 2nd, you are more than likely in.

Actually it started like everything the T$$AA does nowadays, a MONEY generator! From the changing all the districts (to save on travel.....right!) to the adding of yet another level of compitition (6A).

 

Add to this the refusal of the T$$AA to EVER admit they could be WRONG!

 

I have the feeling this year we will see even more teams in the playoffs with LOSING records than we did last year while some really good teams sit at home.

the concept of local mixed districts is good for less travel and better gates but the playoff system is flawed. Why not seed everyone based on a win-loss formula using strength of schedule or power rating system
