Mt Juliet fans, tell us about yourself. Oakland has a dominating defense with probably the best D-line in the state. They average probably over 240 pounds with an average bench press of over 300 pounds. The Oakland team is pure smashmouth. Tighten up your jocks because they are coming straight at you. Not much fluff, but a bunch of big strong young men trying to assert their will over the opponent. Blackman had 9 rushing yards in 27 carries (1 foot per carry) and were shut out and they are the #1 seed in the quadrant. Smyrna had 1 yard in offense the entire first half and were also shut out. Oakland is at 3 straight shutouts (the other was to Christian County, a top 10 team from Kentucky). Tim McAdoo is our 300+ pound All-State stud on the d-line. Darius Coffee and Austin Murray are on the d-line and also getting looked at by colleges. Benton and Dre also play on the line and would probably star for most teams. The D-backs are very quick and our safeties have been known to knock a player into next week. We don't see much passing because the opposing quarterback is generally running for his life. The linebackers are very solid. We probably did not allow 46 points the entire season.

Was my scouting report pretty accurate on Mt Juliet? Single Wing, Good Quarterback, Running back and receiver? :thumb:

No offense....no pun intended, but when was the last time Oakland has blown out anyone? They have a great defense, but a very below average offense.

I would say a 20 point win over Brentwood would be considered more of a blow out and more impressive than a 35-3 win over Wilson Central. I would say a 14-0 win over blackman is more impressive than 38-13 over Portland. District 7AAA Defenses make the offense look bad. Out of the district we averaged 32 points :roflol: In the district right at 21. Believe me, I have seen every game, and have talked to lots of other people around, and all the offenses in District 7 produce when they play outside the district.

What an absolute joke that these two teams have to meet in the first round of the playoffs, and Cookeville is a number 2 seed in this quadrant. Cookeville is #6 at best out of this group.

I know, you have to play them sooner or later if you want to win it all,but there are several teams across the state that are going on the road to inferior opponents. It's just like in college football, a 1 or 2 loss SEC or big 12 team is much better than an undefeated mid major. In this case, the higher ranked team doesn't even have a better record or a harder schedule. Come on T$$AA get a clue! :roflol:

Riverdale, Oakland, and Blackman are the 3 best teams in this Quad. 4 overtime losses and 1 regulation loss between them, pretty tough when you consider they all played each other so that's 3 of the losses.

I, for one, am tired of hearing how great Oakland's defense is. the last time we were reading all about how they were the next coming of the Steel Curtain, Riverdal marched the ball up and down the field on us. I'm sure Mt Juliet is reading all this and thinking that they are getting no respect at all, and nothing motivates like disrespect.

Mt Juliet is 9-1 for a reason, and anything can happen in the playoffs. It's a brand new season. Every team has something to prove, whether it is to prove that they belong here, that they earned their 9-1 record or that they have a really good defense. I'm excited about the matchup, and am glad that we don't have to travel very far. In fact, as bad as Oakland's field looked last Friday, I'm glad we will be tearing up someone else's turf.

So, Mt Juliet group, What kind of shape is your field in? And to tag on to Mr Hornsby's post, tell us about your team. Who are the leaders? What was the best game you guys played this year? What was the worst? Closest?

Anyway, there is no better time of year than this. Hard to believe it will be over in 5 weeks.

Pretty accurate except he left off a couple others that came on late in the year. Offense, offense, offense. We are not the usual wing-t offense because we can and will pass the ball. Stack the box and we will throw. We have 2 receivers that are 6-5 tall and have great hands. We have a QB that is a dual threat and great depth in the RB/FB and OL. We are well aware of your D-line. Whites Creek was the best Defense we faced and MJ will be your best offense that you face up to this point. Run, throw, throw, run which will we do Oakland defense? Your team has not faced a more balanced team to this point.

McAdoo, Coffee, Murray, Fletcher (OHS D-Line) against 74, 57, 59, it really doesnt matter (MJ's O-Line). I have seen both teams play and MJ's little weak offensive line stands no chance against the Patriots superior D-Line. That quarterback will be running for his life. Most games are won in the trenches and this one will be dominated by OHS. MJ (especially O-Line) get ready.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
