Hey Bears, do you remember before the season how we were picked to finish 5th or 6th in our district? We have been proving the so called experts all year long that they were wrong. Now that we are once again given no chance to win this one, lets go out and prove them all wrong again. Go BEARS!

Like I said MJpride. This is MJ first year competing with the big boys. They are going to have a hard time winning but best of luck to them I say 24-14 Oakland.

The Golden Teddy Bears are a very good team. They have a 9-1 record. Their offense starts with their quarterback, #11, Reed Gurchiek. He has about 500 yards rushing. Chris Bazille is also at about 500 yards rushing. They are a single wing offense that will remind you of another team in Murfreesboro that rhymes with Shiverdale. When they do pass, they will generally look toward Vaughn Cornelia who is averaging 26 yards per catch. They portray their offense as the irresistible force averaging over 35 points per game (scoring over 35, 8 times this season).

But, this group has never seen the immovable object. Yes, the “O” defense is coming off three straight shutouts. Each of the last victims (can’t really call them opponents), has less than 100 yards of total offense for an entire game. For those that watched the Smyrna game on tv, a significant stat that came out at halftime was the defense held Smyrna to only ONE yard of offense the entire first half.

The Oakland offense should be able to put up some points with some hard work. The Mount Julie Bears have had some issues in stopping the other team, allowing 47 points to Beech and 35 to Hendersonville. The Oakland offense is getting back on track. The last game was wet, but Oakland moved the ball well had got stopped deep in Smyrna territory about 3 times. They will convert this week.

Prediction: Oakland 24, Mt Juliet 3

They gave up 35 to Hendersonville? Didn't LaVergne hold Hendersonville to something like 13 points?

Just shows the superiority of Rutherford County football in my opinion. District 7 is like the SEC of high school football in this state.

Oakland 31-7

HHS also beat Riverdale. Yes we did give up 35 to HHS but still scored one more TD to get the win at HHS. Our defense does give up quite a bit of points but there is a reason we are 9-1. Our offense. Something will have to give in this game. Hoping it is the Oakland defense.

I can see Oakland scoring 24 on our defense but 3 points for our offense? Doubt that one.

No offense....no pun intended, but when was the last time Oakland has blown out anyone? They have a great defense, but a very below average offense.

Our offense only looks below average when they play within the district. Another testament to the 7AAA defenses!!

This usually don't mean suat in head to head matchups but here are some games of interest from this year. Hendersonville 28, Riverdale 27 / Riverdale 13, Oakland 10 / Mt Juliet 44, Hendersonville 37 / Oakland 20, Siegel 0 / Siegel 28, Station Camp 3 / Mt Juliet 46, S.C. 7

I guess finding the most unique ways to make fun of the other team's name is how the winner will be determined in this game...

What an absolute joke that these two teams have to meet in the first round of the playoffs, and Cookeville is a number 2 seed in this quadrant. Cookeville is #6 at best out of this group.

I know, you have to play them sooner or later if you want to win it all,but there are several teams across the state that are going on the road to inferior opponents. It's just like in college football, a 1 or 2 loss SEC or big 12 team is much better than an undefeated mid major. In this case, the higher ranked team doesn't even have a better record or a harder schedule. Come on T$$AA get a clue! :thumb:

There is a reason. The reason is because your district wins came over teams that combined for an 11-26 record. I'd be willing to bet that you haven't played a defense like Oakland's yet.

I had Mt Juliet scoring a field goal after the final whistle blew. Oakland has 3 straight shutouts and less than 100 yards in each game. Should be a good battle.
