Cap1, I'll have to send you my book on excuses. There are only a couple left in it , but I'll share. I guess I'll end up having to share a plate of cheesefries too. Seymour's offense didn't work for what ever reason. Defense was pretty good given the situations they were end. I would say some on both teams need to grow up, but those always overshadow the majority that play hard and with heart. Good luck to the Vikings. That ref crew was trying to get back in the SEC rotation (at least that's what they said on the bus going home).

As A Neutral party who just wanted to watch some Friday Night Football.I traveled to Bristol to see the undefeated Vikings play.I must admit the Castle is an awesome place to watch A game.I know there was much talk last night and some on here on how the Officiating went.Well the paper had THS 15 for 130 and Seymour 5 for 41 penalty's and penalty yards. And 3 of Seymours flags were dropped in the last 2 minutes of the game.Where I was sitting on the 20 yard line which I have A great pictue in my mind the THS running back stepped out at the 18 getting the first down, the Ref marked it back to the 21 bringing up 4th down. Now with all honesty there are many more plays that should be reviewed with game film by the TSSAA.I realize Game Film will be all that's important to the TSSAA.But you never know A local reporter might want to do A story in the paper. But lets face it in VHSL and TSSAA they have opened the playoffs to teams with 1-9 records 2-8 and 3-7 and 4-6.Lets all have a reality check here, these teams objectives are simple. If we can't beat you on talent,if we make you angry enough we may get you tossed from the game.So first of all the TSSAA need to completely revamp there playoff system again along with the VHSL.Because late hits, Horse collar Takling, Officals from different Regions could have serious impact on the No 1 and 2 seeded teams.Even Like THS who hung in there for the win last night, there players were at great risk for injury especially after I witnessed the Hit on THS safety after the play was whisteled dead. Then NO 66 for Seymour was ejected from the game for his Misconduct, then later they tried to run him back in the game.I know the rules well enough right there the game was over.I'm sure after further review that will be stated.I am very happy to see the best team won and there Defense made sure of that. After seeing there Offense get every Illegal Motion, holding,Delay of game penalty's one could imagine. The Defense stepped up and said no one will take this from us.And wow did they step up.The truth is this game should be reviewed so it never happens again. And if they do find fault in the Officiating, then strong statements need to be sent. And for the Ineligible player the coach tried to run back in that film will show, that could lead to A suspension for the next season. Not just for the player but the Coach as well because the Officials didn't call the game when it happened. In all honesty THS was 60 points better than there opponents last night even though the Final score was like 37-7 and the last score by seymour against THS (2nd and 3rd Team)the player went out of bounds and fumbled before reaching the goal line.Once again the official film will show. So to sum up my story unless your 5-5 or better along with the rating system you shouldn't be eligible for the playoffs.Every other state has 3 play-off games then a State Championship.I think with the new TSSAA playoff you have 4 and A state championship.I think you eliminate that first game you will have much better football, less injury and just all around better playing and I think the true Champions will imerge in Each Division. The way it is now anything could happen and someone could get injured to A team who was 1-9?Does the NO 1 and 2 seeds in each division really deserve that? I think they earned there spots and it should be respected.I realize upsets are a part of every sport but let it be that and not misguided play.

Great post. Everything that you said IMO is true.I hope that TSSAA does review last nights

game. The officials probably were from the SEC. Hope the Vikings can stay healthy and dodge

some of the flags in the play-offs.

My name is Darrel Lauderdale and I am the Co-Defensive Coordinator and defensive line coach for Seymour. I have commented a few times on this thread via my cell phone but waited until I returned from South Bend, IN (Notre Dame-Navy Game) before addressing this again.

Since I was out of town this weekend, I have not seen the game film yet. I will be reviewing it on Monday. If I see one incident of one of our players doing anything that you fine folks from Bristol have accused them of, we will address it with the players and the entire team. We do not coach our kids to behave in that manner and we do not condone such actions.

I would like to address some of you who have made comments about our kids, team, and coaches on this thread.

First, concerning the ejection of number 66. The officials informed us that he was called for a facemask penalty and thats it. I took him out because I wanted to calm him and the situation down. The officials never informed us that our player was ejected from the game. if they would have we would have kept him on the sideline.

Second, as I watch the film I will look for incidents of unsportsmanlike conduct on both sides. Again, it is not something we condone or promote. I commented earlier on this thread that "there goes the pot calling the kettle black" because our kids were telling us the things that the TN High players were doing in the piles and after the whistle. In fact TN High has a reputation of those kind of activities taking place throughout a ball game. I have alot of coaching friends who warned me about playing Tn high.

They said its a tough place to play and watch out, they do alot of "extra things" to piss your guys off in the pile and after the whistle. Including grabbing players in the crouch area, choking,, and late hits. Did I see any of that going on? No not really on either side, but I wasn't looking for it. As I review the film I will. Wait, I did see some after the whistle shoves and pops but they were on both sides.

As far as our being in the playoffs. We finished 3rd among the other 5A schools in our region. We do not decide who we play, the TSSAA has sort of taken that out of our hands. We picked up 3 games; Heritage, CAK, and Daniel Boone. We did not do what alot of teams do and load up on easy opponents. Boone and CAK both have very good teams and Heritage was undefeated until we beat them. We earned our way in and you beat us.

Before the gameI met and spoke with a couple of the TN High fans who were sitting on the visitors side. Both of the guys were very nice and are very much proud of their Vikings, which they should be. TN high has a very good team. 44 is a heck of a football player as is number 48. In fact they have several, including 85 and the QB. Too many for me to mention at this time.

I did see good sportsmanship shown, at times, by both sides. I remember seeing our number 44 helping up your number 44 and vice versa. This happened on several occaisons.

Congrats to TN High and good luck in the playoffs. Again, when I review the film on Monday and if any of our players were doing anything that was unsportsmanlike, it will be addressed.

I don’t think you need to address anything coach DL from Seymour. You have shown the good character of your team and staff by NOT hiding behind a fictitious screen name. I am a THS fan through and through. OK, and I’ll admit I personally do believe the Officials ‘missed’ several calls and the penalties were lopsided during the 1st three Quarters. That however IS NOT a reflection of what turned out to be a VERY TOUGH Seymour football team. It is a reflection of the Poor Officiating. Was it intentional? Who will ever know? I personally want to believe it was just flip-a-coin-unlucky on the THS side. But it happens. Officials miss calls, sometimes intentionally. I’m sure it will happen again. It’s part of the game.

Now about the ‘missed’ calls. Like you, I saw pushing and shoving after the whistle. Some attempts at side shots, some extra hard clubbing at the line of scrimmage. Some ‘almost’ late hits. Maybe one that was. I also saw THS maybe get by with a pass interference. I saw a helmet to helmet hit. I saw a horsey collar (I really hate this penalty). I also saw some Snot fly through the air and I think I heard a fart one time.

FOLKS. THIS IS FOOTBALL!

I saw great players, on both sides, who are accustomed to having much better games against weaker opponents that were getting frustrated during this game. These frustrated players are the ones who got a little bit mean during this game. Some players were not so nice.

FOLKS. THIS IS FOOTBALL!

If we’re not careful, and we keep 'whining' about the above things, we’ll eventually have so many rules and restrictions on this sport that we will not be able to play FOOTBALL! I say LET 'EM PLAY!

Coach DL from Seymour. Thanks for showing good character. On behalf of our players and your players just let this one go. IT’S JUST FOOTBALL.

One last comment. I believe that almost everyone in that stadium last Friday night will agree that SEYMOUR HAS ONE OF THE TOUGHEST DEFENSES IN THE STATE!

P.S. THE OFFICIALS WERE BAD! :roflol:
