Go Greene Devils. From your friends and conference bros at Cumberland Gap.

Thanks...our boys will try to make the Blue Ridge proud. Congratulation also to our friends at Claiborne who showed those Chattanooga teams that we can play a little ball up here too! Tough to lose one like that...must have been exciting though. Can someone from Claiborne give us an assessment of this Brainerd team?

Barb: Brainard has some tall speedsters at reciever and the running game should not be any difficulty for G'ville. Bulldogs missed the QB on the option and got into the open & it cost them. QB can throw the short stuff fair but puts a lot of air under his long ball. They arent that physical up front and will run around blocks, but have decent speed to crash back in. If #11 is in as a reciever he will be the one thrown to. Just keep hammering them with the run game and eveything will be fine. Good luck from Claiborne & make some noise for the blue ridge.

Central had some tall receivers too, but only connected 6 of 18 times, once for their lone td. I guess we'll try to make Brainerd's bball coach happy and get his boys to practice next Monday.

Doesn't any from Chattanooga have an opinion on this one?

Brainerd has a pretty good QB and a couple of receivers.

You won't get many comments from Brainerds fans and you will be lucky if you get 100 fans at the game. Less if they don't bring their band. They don't travel well even to games within their own district unless it is Howard or Tyner.

    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
