Advisor, how can you blame the Martin fans for feeling that security was an issue going to Manassas when Memphis is known as a place where a lot of murder, rapes, robberies, drug deals, etc go on all the time, especially in the inner city? I think that anyone who has to play a Memphis team...at night..on a Friday night...better be concerned with safety. They would be foolish to not be concerned.

I am from Camden, but I am in the Memphis area quite a bit and I have never had any problems in Memphis. I think people blow stuff out of proportion. How many Fans/Players have been killed in Memphis during football games? I can't recall any. We did have a gun pulled during a girls basketball game during the 90's but no one was shot, raped, robbed, beat down, etc. Police contained things and all was well. So this security stuff needs to stop. Memphis lost so the chat about going to memphis should cease. People should worry about coming to Camden. It's Lion Country and it's feeding time. :roflol: Go Lions!!!!

Do you not think Jackson is? If that's the case, why not and try to get games moved out of Jackson. Maybe it's just that you people don't want to drive a hour and a half to support your football team.

volfan007, how often do you get out of Weakley County? When was the last time you heard about a murder happening at a high school football game? What about a rape?.....have you ever seen a concession stand robbed during the game?(well...maybe once or twice...but no one was actually injured) You see, we've traveled to many of these places over the past couple of years and have had wonderful experiences! As a matter of fact, if you were to take a honest poll....most fans who have experienced it, would agree that there is one facility in Memphis' inner city that is the State's absolute best High school football atmosphere ESPECIALLY in the postseason! To foolishly stereotype these areas when you have never been there to experience it is SHALLOW thinking and is just plain IGNORANT!

Thankfully...there has NEVER been a homocide in Camden...there has NEVER been anything taken without the rightful owner's permission.....NO ONE has ever been raped in Benton County...and I can assure you that the ENTIRE COUNTY is DRUG FREE!!! As long as the Chargers are escorted to Camden by the Weakley Co. Sheriffs Dept., Martin Police, and the TN Highway Patrol, then MAYBE...just maybe you might feel safe at the Lions Den!

I stand by my prediction....Ward's Cats over Cody's Bolts in a squeaker!!

Not to be a smart alec, but there actually has been a fe whomocides in Benton County none in recent history I will say. I can't say where they stand on the rape aspect, but all in all Benton County is a pretty safe place to live.

umm....read the post again...! of course you have!!

When Westview traveled to Memphis last year for a game, several of the fan's(westview only) cars were broken into(busted windows, stolen purses). I think the police sort of laughed it off. That's where Westview's negative feelings towards playing in Memphis this year came from.

then what lessons did we learn?...take Charters next time...that's what they are for!!

I was born in Memphis. I lived there until I was 16 years old. We knew that there were certain parts of Memphis that you just did not go, especially at night. I also lived in Memphis for 5 years at another time in my life. Memphis is a rough town, especially in the inner city.

The stories I could tell you about guns being pulled out, and seems that I remember a shooting or two in the past. Stories of other teams busses being pelted with bricks, rocks, etc. And, the stories could go on, but I wont go there.

Also, just for your info, I do not live in Martin. I do live in Weakley Co., but I live in Greenfield. I have only lived in Greenfield for 3 years. I have lived in Dresden and Martin at times, but my life has been lived in Shelby County, Obion County, Henderson County, Hardeman County, and 7 years in Mississippi. So, yeah, I've been outside of Weakley Co. a time, or two. :roflolk:

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
