Congratulations to South on the win.

Catholic played well, but had too many missed opportunities (negative yards rushing first half, fumble on first drive of the game, fake field on the last drive of the first half, TD called back for holding, missed field goal midway through the 4th, 2nd and 10 at the 16 on the final drive and couldn't convert) and although the defense played well most of the game, they couldn't get anything done on South's last drive.

Williamson, Tait, Cozart, and Casey all graduate (among others I'm sure). Does Mackle come back? Huan played very well. Does he come back?

Very hard fought game. South except the first and the last drive struggled offensively. Defense played one of their best games all season. Held Cozart in check. I would like to see our offense play like the last drive every series. Catholic very big up front, but I feel like they were gased toward the end of the game. Keep on keeping on Rebels, don't lose your focus, get ready for Boone you will have our hands full. Congrats on the win over Catholic, a very talented team. One game at a time. Go Rebels!!!

Thanks and likewise to your Red Rebels if it is still appropriate to congratulate a Maryville fan on another playoff win. I guess even you guys don't ever take them for granted. Maybe that Bluegill Pie is what helped us put the whammy on a Catholic rushing game that I thought would steamroll us. Figure out what pre-game meal for next week STARS...we got the Daniel Boone Trailblazers. Can MommaStars whoop up any vittles outta bear meat??

how many times did people rushing lose their footing? I counted at least 5-6 times for Cozart. Defensively dominated game as described. If you read the play by play from Euler, you can see Williamson didn't turn it on much until around the second quarter (with exception to the first play of game) Cozart had a tough time trying to make his cuts- he kept falling and i don't know why. He wasn't getting tripped up or anything, just slipping... Mackle wasn't much of a factor after his fumble at the 1. And Haun had a huge game. He looked like the Spencer Mackle from last year. He made some great grabs. Sad to see the seniors go since most of them are my friends, but next year will hopefully go a little better. Mackle is gone. Haun is back.

Some buddies told me the field was terrible, hopefully Boone will bring something to walk on the wet surface....like I dunno ice? Thankfully, small chance for rain and it was warm and nice today, so hopefully the field will be in better shape.

That field doesn't drain well and when the Bermuda goes dormant, any significant rainfall will settle like soaked by a sponge. I believe the footing was bad for all but probably a little advantage for the Rebels from playing on it so much at the end of the year. It has been a very wet autumn after two years of drought and we have now had home games 5 of the last 7 weekends. Our TB is only 5'8" and built with a low center of gravity so he probably fared a bit better than Cozart in that regard as well.

I thought the Catholic team came out well prepared. The play action pass on the first play was a beautiful bomb and the perfect call to get us back on our heels when we were geared to stop the run. Put it in there and it is probably a much different game. Patrick Haun was very impressive and should be a major weapon for the Irish next year. I thought the punter ,Roth?, had an outstanding game as well. The final drive Catholic made showed they came to win and there was no quit in them. Outstanding defensive football game with many missed opportunities for The Irish. Hope you were treated well at Sullivan South's Death Valley.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
