Union City you have a great ball team. It was a very pshysical game as everyone expected. WC kept shooting their own foot. And ya'll made the nessasary adjustments at half time.

Ya'll were the better team. Congratulations.

This just in though: #41 Dillon Warren went hunting this morning and killed a 10pt. buck. (for real) He's feeling a "little bit" better.

Thank you sir. That was a classy post. Congrats to #41. Dillon ion your BIG BUCK. If you read this I want to tell you that you WERE a factor last night A HUGE FACTOR. you ran hard and fast. Several Times i saw you break 2 or 3 tackles. If no one else was concerned I was. The Rice brothers did a great job as well. You could tell yall have spent alot of time together. You guys have a very promising future. The song at the end could have possibly BEEN DONE WITHOUT. But come on. It happens all the time in sports competition. Just watch games on TV.Ive been to many schools with that song being done at the end. Heck in the past couple of years its happened to us. However I understand that the other team and fans are simply enjoying thier win. Just let me say this.... When you get this far along , It gets tougher and tougher. You can't be so thin skined. Im proud to have played such a quality team as WC. Now We face the "GIANT".

I first want to say congrats to the union city football team.

As far as the band and the fans that sang goodbye to the cats, I just wanted to say real classy move. To you, I hope south pitt whoops your tails. Your team, excluding 56, deserves better representation that what you all had to offer. As far as I am concerned, 56 played this game on borrowed time and should Wayne co pursue it, he would probably miss the trip to the championship game. We won't and he will play but kicking someone in the head should definately cost him more than 15 yards. Loser.

And to the cats, great season. I have enjoyed every minute of it

It is ashamed that you are such a sore loser but sometimes being a sore winner can be just as bad. Just remember, Wildcatpride, the shoe could have been on the other foot and we could be talking about your fans. I was unable to attend the game so I cannot form an opinion about our fans or yours, but I will say that your attitude is probably not a fair representation of your fans. Your feelings are probably hurt because UC came to your house and left asking you who your "daddy" was, but that is life. As far as what Ronnie Fair (# 56) did to your team that is the game of football. I listened to the game, and it sounded like your QB was just being pressured all night. Again, that is football. If you want your QB to be protected then that is the responsibility of the OL. There is nothing to pursue are far as your comment on him being on borrowed time. If there were flagrant fouls to be called I am sure the officials would have taken care of that. This is not the NFL or NBA where you can call the comissioner's office and see film to make another determination of "missed" calls. Your season is over so enjoy the success that your team had and look forward to next year. A question I have for you is why do a lot of folks spell definitely with an "a"?

Not just talking about WC fans but why do people spell lose...Loose??..Or loser..Looser..??... :thumb:

Thats a good post BigSwo. As for whoever said that #41 was not a factor. Well he was a factor he broke lots of takles against UC and he has more heart and class than you ever well. Espically, since he was playing with a hurt shoulder from last week. As for #56 kicking Chase in the face... well the ref called a 15yarder for that so it must have been the wrong thing to do and if thats football then I wished I was still playin cause I would be goin for some knees takin people out of games, but WC has more class just like the song at the end but agian that ok.. ya'll were just cheerin your team so no big deal.

Anyway on a lighter note. This was a good game just like I thought it would be. Up and Down the Wildcats played good football all season and I'm proud to be a WILDCAT FAN. Ya'll made the whole county proud. The only thing is we turned the ball over to much and got beat by a really good UC team. Thats all there is to say. #27 for UC... as for you I was tryin my best to make it to you to shake your hand, your some kind of football player son...you can flat out run the football and I have to give you props no one else has ever run on our D like that. Good luck to UC on there trip to Cookeville. I wish it was us but thats how it goes. I hope ya'll give SP a good game.

congrats to uc on your win and achance for gold. your guys hung on to the ball and we made a few costly mistakes. i think 56 is to good a player to be kicking people in the face out of frustration because he was getting blocked, so with that said great win for yall and tough loss for us and good luck next week.

What everyone from WC is saying about Ronnie Fair is well, unfair.....Now, I'm am not in any way going to defend a kick to the face...I wasn't there I didn't see it...There has been nobody from Union City that was there say he didn't do it, so I'm assuming he did it....The officials did see it though...They called the penalty...The Wildcats got the 15 yards...Fair got the warning...It apparently wasn't enough for an ejection...Of course I heard these officials were from Memphis so that may be standard operating procedure down there, I don't know...Point is, he got flagged for it....Ronnie is an emotional player and his motor is running in the red all night long...He has been a monster for us the last couple of years...I don't remember him getting many personal fouls other than an occasional roughing the QB, which is very easy to get called on you....There are many, many variables that make players do what they do on a football field..Any of you that have played the sport know it's vicious..It's not for the faint of heart...Things are said to each other and things are done to each other on a football field that might get you arrested on the street..People who have played the game know what I mean....Something provoked Ronnie to do what he did...Nobody is talking about that...Like I said, I'm not defending it..You HAVE to keep your composure and keep your head in the game...He didn't just go out on that particular play and decide, oh I'll just kick this dude in the head for the heck of it...If I remember right it happened on the play where the QB completed a pass after scrambling for his life and avoided a huge loss...Something was done or said that provoked what happened..It's almost always that way and it's the guy that retaliates who ends up getting flagged...

Things are being said about a 16-17 year old kid that shouldn't be..We all need to keep that in mind...

it is nice to hear people like bhhvols and purple and gold standard, who were not at the game, explain to us that were actually there exactly what happened with #56. listen, i don't know the kid or care anything about hearing his life story. here is what i know..... he got blocked by our running back and didn't like it so he threw our guy down and kicked him in the face. his immediate reaction was that he fully expected to either be thrown out or pulled out by his coaches. neither of those happend so that is the end of the story.

as far as me being a sore loser, i guess you didn't read my post. i congradulated union city's football team. they played very hard and deserved to win that game. they were more physical than us in our scrimmage game before the year and were againg last night in the second half.

The question is "Were you at the game?" Ronnie Fair was taken out for a play or two after that mishap in judgment. Thanks for your biased opinion though.

Good job to the WC Wildcats. You played a hard game and had a great season!!

As for #56, emotions were running high last night, and we will never know why he had such great sportmans like conduct. Was he provoked or just trying to be a butt, we will never know. And as for the UC fans, 1st class is all I can say. :thumb: Loved the Good Bye song. I think we did that in Middle School. And, as for Rocky Top, in case you haven't noticed, UT is not that great, you should leave their fight song to them.

Both teams played their hearts out, but UC had less mistakes and was the better team. #27, wow is all I can say, you should go far. As for WC, Dillon Warren you are one heck of a player and to have played all season injured, you couldn't tell it. Maybe you haven't gotten the credit you deserved, but you are a great player and have the sportsmanship to go with it. You are MVP in my book. And of course, way to go Lint!! :thumb:

Let me start by saying that I have read posts on this site all year and never felt the need/urge to post for myself. That being said, I felt compelled to type one today. I am a devout Wildcat fan and am extremely proud of what they have accomplished this season. Dillion, Chase, Tyler and all of the Wildcat team should hold their heads high. Let's face it, very few teams make it to the "Big Show". GREAT SEASON!!!!!

To the Union City football team - GOOD LUCK! I mean that sincerely. The way that I have it figured, I would at least like to say that we were knocked out of the playoffs in a tough-fought 31-21 loss to the eventual STATE CHAMPIONS!!! (That's just my opinion) Anyway, I do hope that you give SP all that it can handle. #27... what can I say? You are an exceptionally gifted athlete. Luckily, I did manage to make it across the field to shake your hand. Keep a good head on your shoulders and the sky's the limit for you! You played with unbelievable determination and resilience. OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL EFFORT!!!

In regards to the song at the end of the game... whatever. I didn't take any offense to it. We have done it in the past on the basketball court. WC fans, don't be so quick to throw stones!!! We had some pretty questionable fans yelling at the officials and Coach Rice. I have as much passion for winning as the next person, but sometimes you just get beat by a better team. That is all that happened last night.

HATS OFF TO UC!!! I SINCERELY HOPE THAT YOU BRING THE TROPHY HOME NEXT WEEKEND!!!

I think you "Wayne County" fans are funny!! Really, do you folks all load up on a bus once a week and go into Nashville for shopping....are you back in time.

GET REAL!!!! This is football. The reason you think you got "BANGED UP" by our #56 , #27, #55 and others...this is football.

What you must be use to is flag football!!

I TOLD you we would hit you in the mouth and they way some of your players hit must show the padded schedule you play all year ..including J B which WE distroyed back a couple of years ago.

We have and are just proving that West Tennesee Football is much much stronger and you folks east of the river just can't hang.

Sorry.........

You season is over and good luck next year..

Well JBS was in the finals just last year so it is not as much stronger as you may think. Please dont generalize b/c that just oozes arrogance. I am actually looking foward to seeing you guys play SP and hope that you can bring the gold ball back home.....

The West will have to wait another year.South Pitt is the best team in 1A....wait I take that back...they are the best team in 1A & 2A.

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
    • Dyersburg scrimmaged South Gibson last week
    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
    • No yellow stripes on the rug last night. Biggest crowd I’ve seen at 825 since the alco debacle.
