I think they have the potential, but there are a few spots to address. And, I'm sure that will get done in time to start gearing up for the playoffs.

We're inexperienced at a couple of spots, but like I said earlier, the season will take care of that.

i talked to a dc player saturday and said gordonsville whipped them good. i hope this win helps the tigers have a great season that is long overdue.

Croz, Smith County working against these large school programs means absolutely nothing. None of them are ever any good. No linemen or much skill for that matter. The Tigers should have a cakewalk in week 1. Just like a few years back when the talent level was just so unbalanced in Gordonsville's favor. Good luck on the year and here's to the Tigers winning going 14-1!!!

Now, you know as well as I do that Wilson Central is no Riverdale or Maryville, and what I mean by that is teams like Wilson Central have alot more ups and downs from year to year than schools like Riverdale. I've seen years where 5A schools would get beat by 1A schools.

Don't get me wrong. I'm impressed by the Owls whooping up on WC, but all I had been doing is trying to put it in perspective.

The next two scrimmages will tell a lot about SC. That will be DCA and Cookeville HS.

Its just funny that when SC goes and performs well, there has to be and excuse and someone has to "down." The Owls are still the Owls, croz. As Scooter said, the Owls have two good work days on the slate this week. Maybe they'll play above their capability and compete. I think they will.

I never said WC was down. I asked if they were, all anyone had to say was "No". Like I said, I was trying to put it into perspective.

Gville blasted Dekalb Friday. Does that mean that Gville is really good or has Dekalb taken a couple of steps back. The same scenario applies to the Owls and WC.

I was just trying to get an idea of the Owls as a whole, because like many on the North side, I'm rooting for ya'll except Week 1.

Besides, when I asked about ya'lls scrimmage with WC, I asked if SC was better than expected or if WC was down, and everyone from Carthage got their panties in a wad, when I thought it was a legitimate question.

Like I said before, ya'll could've asked the same question about our scrimmage with Dekalb.

SC is SC, that's all that really needs to be said. The Owls are working against who they always do. Teams that if you go out and don't play well, you get your head pounded. Does SC always show up and play well? Not always, but the competition is usually as good or better than the teams on the schedule. I think the same is the case this pre-season. The Tigers are expected to be better than previous years. That excites me! I hope the kids bring home gold. 14-1 is a great season! Oh, and I don't wear panties. Go Owls!!

You weren't the only one that got testy when I posed the question, besides, I'm just glad someone else is talking on here besides me.

And that one loss, I guess it depends on what week it happens. If its any other week than the championship, I guess I'll take it.

Wilson Central is down from last year and way down from 2-3 years ago much like Dekalb probably is after losing their fine recent skill players. Croz, I wouldn't read too much into scrimmages one way or the other. A bright football guy like yourself should know and remember this from last year, right?

I'm not reading too much into the scrimmages, just trying to guage everybody.

I know that scrimmages are just scrimmages( time to work out kinks), but alot of times they can be telling.

Right now, I'm not looking too much into our scrimmage with Dekalb, I mentioned that earlier. I'm not looking too much into SC's scrimmage with WC. All I did was ask a question and the SC faithful got their drawers in a bunch.

    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
