Well if you look at his track record, I dont think you can blame the kids for not being excited. Just look at how long he stayed at his last two jobs. These kids need stability. This will be the seniors 3rd coach.

 

As far as the players knowing him, he is kinda of known all across the state for some of the things he has said or done (positive or negative). Personally dont know the guy but when you speak of his state championship you might want to go back and find the roster and look at who he had on that team. It never hurts at the 1A level to have a few D1 or college bound skill players.

 

The question should be what has he done lately? He has won a state championship 2001 but what has his record been since then.

Independence 8-13 but if you ask him he will claim a 7-4 record. He dont count the first varsity season of 1-9. Science Hill he was 14-17

 

Someone had said earlier that he has changed and looking for a place to settle down. He has been qouted as saying that he wants to come back to this area because of family. Just one question, if that truly is the case then why does he also say he is looking for a job out state.

sounds like smith has a lynch party waiting for him in lynchburg. I have heard that the hire is still not official yet, is anyone else hearing that also? Smith, if you are reading this is my best advice is not to go.....sounds like people are restless before you have even gotten there:

dont read the paper, dont even buy a paper

 

get a dog, maybe get two

 

buy a membership to triple AAA

 

never go to the local barbershop on saturday

 

by stock in the jack daniels plant

 

dont lose a game or you are done

 

finalyy, good luck coach, you are going to need it, never have i seen a 4-6 team hate a guy so much before he has even been hired

Things have gotten quite on this site the last couple of days. From what I understand, Smith was announced at school as the new coach. Are the current assistants staying or is he bringing some in with him?

Its official the local paper said coach smith is the new coach as of right now no one is coming with him but there is a pe teaching position open.
