Hey, Face, you caught me...I spelled 'education' incorrectly. Most people would recognize a typo and not bring the grammar police to a wrestling forum. Just bc I cannot give you a name of a kid who was recruited, does not mean that it doesn't happen. And, yes, I do know that public schools try to recruit, but they are a little handicapped compared to private schools. Private schools, as a whole, have better education and facilities than the public schools. If I were in high school and was great at whatever sport I played and BA/FRHS/MBA offered to waive my tuition, then, I would jump at it.

 

You could just leave it at, 'yeah, there is recruiting that goes on'.

didnt nelson pinkstaff get introuble last year for playing football at a different school then transfering to baylor to wrestle, i may be wrong, but to me that sounds like recruiting for his wrestling.

 

 

btw,, when is nelson able to come back off of his injury this year?

Ha...Bear, I guess we are all crazy - you sure have a ton of time on hand. I figure you may be in Franklin fro the tournament. If you are and want some good pub food, check out McCreary's Pub in downtown Franklin on Main Street.

 

I like dead horses, ok. Sorry to throw a small grenade BC's way. Only looking at their schedule with on D11 schools on there. I do have respect for them because they have destroyed most of the teams they met and I don't think they lost. So, they would have to be a hands-on favorite. Ravenwood is tough, though and could pull an upset.

 

I am looking forward to some Cordova/BC matches early on.

 

I am getting ready to head towards the Ag Center (I have seen graduation there and it should be a good venue for the Duals).

You said Franklin was the best team in Nashville. Nashville covers Davidson Co. That doesn't make sense since they are 2 different cities. I was trying to give you some credit by thinking you meant Middle TN. My bad.

Go to the TSSAA site and read the bylaws. It's not a scholarship or waiving tuition, it's need based financial aid. Some parents may call it a scholarship because it sounds better, but it's financial aid. All D2 schools offer some form of financial aid. That's the reason they are D2. Some have more to offer than others. It's financial aid, not a scholarship. Now, privates schools could work a deal on younger sibling's tuition prior to their high school grades.

 

If a student/athlete meets a schools academic requirements and a family has legitimate financial needs, if have no issues. The school should never lower academic standards or make exceptions solely for athletics. In life, academics are much more important.

 

As an aside, 19 year old seniors and redshirting (repeating, held back, starting late) seems to be more prevalent at privates.
