opticyellow
It's Time...Well almost. There are new faces everywhere in the state. Who are the predictions for the best Freshmen talent this year? There are so many coaches that will not play Freshmen are there any out there you folks think should be playing? it seems like in highschool the Jr's and Sr's always get the nod even when the young talent is better Last Years entrants were in no particular order: 3-5 kids from South Fulton Lady Red Devils Meridith Mitchell-Sequatchie Co. Kaitlyn Wheeles-Union City Nikki Fogle-White House Holly Hockaday-Davidson Academy Tanner Sanders and Jordan Griner-Lincoln Co The entire Mt. Juliet team Bryanna Blanco- Maryville Lindsay Reed and Brooke Burger - unknown Shelly Dawson-Creekwood 5 kids from Marion Co- sorry we didn't mention the Jrs and Srs you can start your own thread if you want Molly Black, Emily Hensley, Kendi King- Morristown East Megan Taylor - NGHS Heather Brown from Lebanon and last but not least Jackie L -Stone What do you think folks, were these proud parents or is our talent pool getting better
BigMo
I expect to see lots of freshmen on the field around here. Midway will have a good one in Richardson. CAK may have an 8th grader seeing playing time. Keep an eye on the Plese girls. Kingston has about 6 freshmen on the team and they may all see time and some may even find a start or 2. Mossing, Snow, Spurgeon and Stickrod all have a good chance at a letter.
Indian
It's Time...Well almost. There are new faces everywhere in the state. There are so many coaches that will not play Freshmen are there any out there you folks think should be playing? it seems like in highschool the Jr's and Sr's always get the nod even when the young talent is better Last Years entrants were in no particular order: Meridith Mitchell-Marion Co. What do you think folks, were these proud parents or is our talent pool getting better Meredith is a sophomore at Sequatchie, an easy-to-make mistake since they're neighboring counties. As a freshman she hit .367 (strictly recorded, getting on a few times via error affected that average), .425 on-base (had a good amount of walks for 24 games), started from beginning to finish at leadoff and center field. In the outfield she had several throws to the infield for outs and made some "Sportscenter" type catches for outs. She was the first freshman ever for the program to make first-team Chattanooga All-Area, that includes quite a few good players over the last couple of decades including her mom who was the pitcher for the '90 state title team. She's also among the leading hitters for her summer team (Force) which includes players mostly from larger Chattanooga area schools. So yes, that was a good prediction for her. 3rdbasecoach
Sydney Hooper, Walker Valley. She's an absolute beast at the plate. She hits for a high average and has a ton of power. She will make a good Walker Valley team that much more difficult to deal with.
hoopcoach1
I think Heritage High School has a few freshmen that could see lots of playing time this season . . . .. . . ..and Alcoa may have a frosh or two that crack the lineup as well. Still, they are freshmen and will play like juniors at times and then like 8th graders at times.
3rdbasecoach
Marion County will get stronger with the addition of Brooke Baxter and Cassie Pickett. Ooltewah's Kelsey Chernak is a outstanding catcher, with a great bat and good speed.
trailhead
I agree Hooper from Walker Valley, Baxter and Pickett from Marion County will all be strong players. Chernak at Ooltewah is going to be a ver good player in her four years as well.

girlssoftball
Not sure about what kind of season it will be for Oakdale. I do know 5 eighth graders and one freshman make up the starting line up. Don't let the age fool you they are 6 amazing players. I think they will have a team that plays well together for the next 5 years. Not many teams have such a great chance. It will be a fun season to watch. youthsportsPIX
Nashville Christian has a Freshmen Pitcher Savannah Womack, a lefty who is a pretty solid for a Freshmen. She played travel for Worth 95 and her catcher is an 8th grade Kala Baker who bats clean up for the team! They are a very young team with only one Senior. richlandraiderdad
Columbia Academy has Merri Anne Patterson.. A gifted athlete that is starting catcher as an 8th grader last year, and hits with power. Crazy part is she is even a better SS!!!!
trojan35
Last year Soddy Daisy's Kelsey Nunley was the Chattanooga Times-News Free Press Player of the Year, As A Freshman. This years talent has 7 freshman who could start for most of the teams listed in this post. Good news, next years crop will yeild about 7 more freshman who will be in our talent pool
