pigpen874
Bumper Reese coach of Red Bank High School called a meeting with his players today and confirmed rumors that had been floating around since the beginning of the season. He resigned as Head Coach of Red Bank and will possibly be the next baseball coach at Signal Mountain.

pigpen874
Bill Price was the coach of Signal this year and as most people know he is the head coach of football also and was mainly doing baseball because they did not have a coach. What Happen to Toby Morgan? Didn't he leave Chatt. Christian to be the Coach?
klpotter
Good luck to Bumper and his family. I know this must have been a difficult decision.
broadbat
Glad to see Coach Reese go. Year after year, he had the talent, but his teams never reached their potential. Politics, favoritism, poor coaching decisions. Always a lot of drama. He will definitely fit in better at Signal Mountain. Bye Bye Bumper, and don't come back. Sounds as though you or your son didn't get to play as much as you thought he should have. Bumper is a good man who has carried on the good baseball tradition at Red Bank. Good luck Coach
hiway58
Broadbat is right. The record speaks for itself. Bumper's Red Bank teams were usually short on seniors because many good players would quit baseball after their soph or jr year. Red Bank has great feeder programs, but little to show for it as far as baseball championships. Hopefully the next coach can fix the problems Bumper has created. Bumper is a good man who has carried on the good baseball tradition at Red Bank. Good luck Coach Boardbat was a little harsh, but: I have no “kin” that have played for Red Bank, but I have been around Chattanooga baseball and high school baseball for many years. I have not seen many high school coaches put the best players on the field with the best chance to win. There is always some political motivation for some who get to play. The difference between the better player that sits and the one that gets to play based on other factors may not be that much, but in high school ball you have to be able to play and you have to be connected. Very few teams have nine standout starters. The 3 to 5 that are… will play. It is when you get to the next level of talent where the political or other connection enters the decision. Ah life...
