how about heritage doesnt have a freshman team because.....

they moved them up to get experience playing older kids they will have to on varsity the next few years.

oh and the freshman get the same amount of work as varsity.

when varsity is on offense. then the freshman are with the varsity defensive coaches and visa versa.

so they get alot more work then alot of freshman "teams" do around the state. who have seprate staffs made of of lesser coaches that arent qualified to be varsity coaches. end of conversatiion.

I have a feeling the conversation will go on. Do not try to stifle communication and dialogue (British spelling) among the people.

The thing that can hurt a school the most is what happened at Ooltewah. The beloved coach canceled the JV season after only one game and all but three players did not return the following year. Now those guys are seniors and Ooltewah is hurting because of it. It is a shame because they were an awesome freshman team that beat Farragot for the Southeast Freshmen Championship 30 to 0. Three out of forty-five is all that remains out of that group and now we are struggling.

Freshmen championships? Can Maryville get in on that action?

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
