South Pitt and Signal Mountain scared of Alcoa

I will defend Grider, even though Roy will not like it. Why in the world would you play a tough physical game a couple weeks from the playoffs with the chance of getting a star banged up? It makes absolute no sense and Grider did the right thing for not playing this game. Now Price could play them I think since they have depth, or did last year at least. Sp and Signal are both great teams, but they are no ALCOA. Just like Goodpasture and Maryville. All great teams but can't handle the Tornadoes. I would gather to say that Alcoas 2nd string is just as good if not better than pitt an signals first stringers. Thats the difference folks. DEPTH and physicality. Roy is right...weights do matter...and that is why they are dominant...they hit the weights hard at Alcoa..Smart play on the coaches part not playing them

How much money could be made if South Pitt or Signal Mountain would play Alcoa at Finley?

Rankin should go back to the Boro and play one of those teams

Signal Mountain is playing Blackman, but is scared of Alcoa. Maryville beat Smyrna for the 6A title and Alcoa has beaten them 2 years in a row. Maryville also trounced Riverdale last year.

S.P. plays their home games at home. Screw Finley stadium. Supposedly, Rankin offered $25,000/year for a home and away deal.

You have got be joking. I garuntee you that any football game is physical. It says in my Murphy Fair book that it is a contact sport. I garuntee you that someone could get hurt in any game. It would make us a better team and on top of everything, Grider could make 25,000 dollars a year to play these Alcoa boys. Grider could take that money and buy some real nice champion rings or even buy us a greyhound bus so we dont have to rent one anymore. That Rankin man spent 180,000 dollars lat year on his boys champion rings. This is a bunch of mess. That Rankin man is a real good coach. That Hargis man wrote in that article that Rankin man wants to be in a small town. Maybe Grider could get him to be an assistant coach here. You think im joking but im not.

I read that article. I don't think it said S.P. was offered $25,000. No team is going to pay another one $25,000 to play. $1,000-$2,000 would be believable, but not 5 digits. It looks like S.P. has a strong schedule for 1A. I am still hoping they get that 10th game as well. As for Alcoa, I think it would be good to play, but it would have to come at the right point in the season. Before the playoffs isnt the time. Also with the current state of the seeding process in the playoffs, a team can't afford to load up a schedule too much or you could be sitting at home while another team with a powder puff schedule is taking your spot in the playoffs.

Go back and read the article, it said the gate could be as much as $25K. That kind of dough isn't coming from gate receipts at Beene Stadium on Friday night even if T.C. rolls into town for a Semi-Final game.
