Are you serious? Here is the answer to quote Don Meyer: "You can't make a racehorse out of a pig, but you can make a very fast pig". Besides Bradshaw leaving, and the Pendleton and Porter (post players from the year before) -those kids won it, the kids that were left were not that good. The red headed kid quit- soft and not very strong and the Rhoten kid was just a spot up shooter who had to have the table set for him, and Peach is the same way. They have solid coaching- you don't win at the college level and not know how to coach. The system has to be put in place to help the younger kids develop at the jr high level in order to be successful.

Very valid point with him winning in college, but I believe that the teams he had were more capable of running a actual offense and not a stand around while one person creates.

Macon County is #1 in District 9-AA

Sycamore is #2 in District 9-AA

BOTH OF THESE TEAMS HAVE WON FIRST ROUND "BYES" IN THE DISTRICT TOURNEY & SECURED SPOTS IN THE REGIONAL TOURNEY

White House is #3 (will open the district tourney against Greenbrier)

Westmoreland is #4 and Goodpasture is #5 if Westmoreland beats Macon County on Friday night.

Goodpasture is #4 with a win over Greenbrier on Friday + a Westmoreland loss to Macon County

If Goodpasture and Westmoreland both lose:

A "coin flip" will determine #4 and #5 in the district

Greenbrier is #6 (will open the district tourney against White House)

Good point, college coaches recruit the players they want to the schemes they want to run. He must know X's and O's or they would not have hired him. I still think players are the answer(or lack of players)to quote the old timers, "it aint about X's and O's it about the Jimmys and Joes!"

I noticed in the box score that Christian Lynn and Rhoten did not play. Are they still hurt? If so, how long will they be out? When did they get hurt?

Yes they are both out, Lynn might be back by district, Rhoten is out for the year tore his ACL against White House, and another starter was out with sickness. three starters out against Sycamore is not good, considering they are playing as well as anyone at this time.

What happens if WH beats Sycamore 2morrow night? Wouldn't we be tied for second? How would the tiebreaker work? Anyone know?? Shaping up to be a great tournament!! The Macon mystique is fading..............

Seems to me we would stay in third regardless. Beating Sycamore would give us the same record as them, but Macon beat them once and us twice. I believe our loss to Greenbrier would complicate things too.

Doesn't matter if you beat SHS tomorrow. They would have same record as you but then you start looking at common opponents to break the tie: they beat GHS 2 times, Macon 1 time, and your loss to GHS would be the deciding factor. They swept GHS- didn't yall lose to GHS. No, won't change a thing if you win- they are #2 and WH is # 3.

Concerning Greenbrier basketball... Yep, they finished dead last in the District regular season and they're in the Tourney Finals vs. #1 Macon Co. Tuesday night, 7:30 at Vol State. Win or lose, it's 'Hoosiers-esque,' baby!

...they were awful last year. You think they will have improved that much? You and I saw how bad it could get for them in their district and region. I wish them the best but I think they are one notch above Westmoreland this year- same as last year.

Thacker is not that good. He is average at best. Bulking up will help but there are not enough pieces for this team to get to the next level. I still believe they are #5 in the district. Everyone knows Peach shoots the 3-ball but what else does he bring? Suspect ball handling and not a good defender.

1. Macon Co.- the 3 some is too strong

2. Sycamore- play hard/solid core back

3. White House- 1-3-1 is tough with their length

4. Goodpasture- a lot of guards- can they guard it(not sure about the coaching)

5. Greenbrier- Not enough talent/size

6. Westmoreland- graduated 5 seniors? Wow, this could be a long season!

Not to say I told you so: but I believe I told yo so! Peach- great shooter? All this hype about Peach avg 20 a game is just that- hype! Look, it is real simple: you got to have players. GHS probably has some players but they are young.

looks like the district losing streak for the bobcats continues :roflol::roflol::roflol:

Greenbrier gets last in the district for the 2nd year in a row after a district championship the previous year. Has the past two groups of kids been bad or is it the coaching?

Greenbrier in the championship game!? What the heck!

Obviously, it took me a bit of time to compile all this, but I'd like to remind y'all of these two 'geniuses' observations. Uhhh, <clear throat> they'll be eating crow this week...as GB goes to the Regions. 'NoName,' where y'at, homie?!

In other news...

Heard that senior, Chris Holbert, got fouled with 1.8 on the clock, and in the words of his mystic middle school coach "won the game at the line". Congratulations to the Bobcats! Who's next?

Yeah, I told you so...

You forgot the 'stabilizer:' Chris Holbert. He's the epitome of a point guard and silent leader. Makes good decisions, hustles, plays defense, good...no, GREAT! passer and even rebounds. Scores, too, when needed. I would LOVE to have him as a teammate and hope my son watches what he does and appreciates it. He's the one that IF Craig , Sam and Jackson would've stayed, would be an integral part of a state-bound team, no doubt! That means we would've (coulda, shoulda, I know...) had Connor, Tyler and others filling that 5th spot consistently and, uhh!, oh what a team we would have. But, it wasn't meant to be and we certainly can't cry over spilt milk. That's why I love watchin' this team. And a 'TEAM' they are. They're 'survivors' and fun to watch. No quit in 'em, either.

As far as the future, who knows. We've certainly got some good talent coming and lots of it. But, as I've seen in GB-land before, some just don't have the passion or dedication to be REAL good. The future certainly looks bright, but there are too many variables to be making predictions. I'm just gonna enjoy this team this year and hope they keep playing hard and smart.

GO :thumb: Cats!

If you don't come to watch the game because you think it'll be a blowout or something, at least come and see our new 'pep club/student section.' I haven't seen 'em personally, but I've heard they're quite good at motivating their fellow classmates, the 2011-12 version of our beloved Greenbrier Bobcats, to overachieve. The 'Cameron Crazies' got nuthin' on these kiddos!
