Spear, Spanky, and Snark0...Yeah, the tune up went 89-0, the season went undefeated (your last, who's counting? 44, 45,46...?--although I use the "royal your"). Sure some of my team mates are possibly more successful than I: State's Exhibit "A," my dealing with self-absorbed, rubes on a high school football site, when I'm sure they team mates better things to do Re: attempting to teach those with little to no humility. But let's just consider I did get to leave (and never really looked back)as most of them. Shall we compare CVs, respective last games (mine was 1994), or net worths? Dr. Tom Million

What you had back then was the same as the 1951 Vols.It was the way of the time.1960 was the last undisputed state title, but the school claims 1964 as the 13th,but who's counting.8 teams have went undefeated over the last couple of decades but had to play on unlike the 1964 team.Had it been done the same as in your day, atleast a half a dozen more teams would have been voted state champions, including one of my sons. www.hsfdatabase.com/tn_statechamps2000.htm

You are full of crap!! Everything you just said was pretty much a lie. I sat in the end zone right in front of the Hoodlum Section and heard and saw every disgraceful act. You were probably one of them. How could you even consider defending their actions. Your post just proves the point that they represent the South community.

It's the flag you have a problem with, ADMIT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't counting the speed guys, just the big boys. When the speed guys were getting a rest was my reference to players not getting out on the field with some motivation.I don't mind seeing number 6 and 8 play most of the game because they are special athletes and even a little tired are better then most in this area.

True.....true...

Are you saying there was no taunting dancing chanting from the DB players just in front of the South student section? You need to take your shades off at night. Tell ya what. Get the film. Arrest the two, yes 2 water bottle throwers and suspend all the players taunting and dancing around right in front of the student section.

I didn't see it but if whatever you say the players were doing had been deemed "taunting" then they would have been flagged by the refs. By the way... they were winning 40 something to 14!! Did you really expect them to come out with their heads hung knowing that they took the BIG STICK to your team in the first half. No amount of celebration the players could have done would ever excuse throwing objects onto the field and at the players. There is no excuse for the behavior of the Hoodlums. If it were my child that did that they would not be allowed to attend another game... period. But I guarantee you that my children would NEVER resort to such antics because they have home training. I could only guess that the kids from South were praised for what the did by the classless crowd from SOUTH.

I do not condone the throwing of anything at a ballgame, but it wasn't like they mob attacked with dangerous weapons. I saw what happened. There was taunting and there were a couple of water bottles thrown. Your feigned indignance is so obvious it is laughable. I guess none of you have ever been to any other sporting events where there were 2 or more DB students attending.

And to the posters who want to put down Harvey and the parents: You have to be laughing while writing all that BS. Again, not condoning the throwing of anything but, NOTHING at all would have happened if your students hadn't taunted and disrespected the guests in your house. Where'd they learn that.

Get out of here Hilts... you've got to be kidding me. Trash talking, celebrating, taunting has always been an acceptable part of the game. Players do it, fans do it, and even coaches do it. And if it crosses the line it could be punishable by a 15 yard penalty. But there is NO... and I say it again NO excuse for throwing objects at players!!! That my friend could be a criminal offense. I believe the charge would be assault. ;)

I saw no trace of the RAG before, during, or after the game and it never crossed my mind. If you don't know by now what I have a problem with then you are probebly part of the "CLASSLESS" problem at South. By the way... If there is one thing posters on Coacht know about me it's that I say what I mean and mean what I say, right or wrong... straight up no chaser. If I had a problem with the RAG believe me I would say it..... JohnnyBoy. 8-)

I'm disappionted Cap. You above all should understand the pitfalls of stereotyping. Are you seriously going to label a whole community on what a few misguided students do? I'm sure your boys never made a spur of the moment bad decision while caught up in the emotional upheaval of a group of people. That's because you are the perfect father and youngsters are controllable.

And we have former Viking players robbing banks. Do you want me to talk about how that represent parenting skills in Bristol, Tn.

Give it a break and an apology to Colonial Heights if you're man enough after you reconsider your comments.

There is nothing wrong with school spirit. Anyone throwing anything onto the field should be escorted out if identified by the authorities. However, in my mind there is a big difference in throwing something non-threatening, like an empty water bottle vs. something that could injure someone. That would be assault .

Here is part of the problem now days.I'm not talking about just South ,DB or any other kids.I seen a boy stand up in his dads face and back talk him the other day.Me and the dad got to talking about how it was in the day.The boy just simply said that was child abuse and he would call child services.A few of our young kids probably have missed something that many of us needed on the way up.Anyone remember these old goodies.1-Give me your belt boy.2-Go get a switch of the tree.3-you have been a good student but your going to see the principal for disrupting class{and they always had those big paddles with holes in them}.4-Bam !-don't back talk me boy! .Maybe a little to much for todays kids, but then again, maybe not.

Nothing to disagree with here Batman, IMO. Belt worked for me and my siblings and it worked for mine. I fear it will not be part of their children's upbringing though and that is just one of many reasons we are headed where we are as a society.

    • I agree with the Farragut and Bradley claim. Those will both be wins. Bearden like you say is depending on when you get them in comparison to when the wheels fall off.  As far as West goes I’m 50-50. They have been able to reload so far so until they show me they haven’t I can’t count them out.
    • during the 2nd round of the playoffs last year against Milan, Gray partially tore his meniscus. He had a minor repair around Thanksgiving. Recovery time was minimal and he has been full force for baseball this season.
    • What do ya’ll think the O/U will be? I would set the line at 2.5
    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
