Lexington plays in arguably the toughest 4A district in the state. Lexington, Chester County, Liberty are all legit programs and even South Side and Bolivar are talented. Greenville plays district games against subpar programs in which they can run up the score. The body of work Lexington has compiled this year should leave no doubt. Of course there is that weighted scale of East Tennessee bias that always seems to come into play. Everybody wants a shot at Lexington, but careful what you wish for East & Middle Tennessee. Many have tried, and all have failed to knock off the Tigers in 2011!

Would anyone care to revist this? :flower:

I don't think Lexington faithful would have as much to say now Barb! I guess Greeneville fans should just consider themselves lucky to not have to worry about the possible match-up with that powerful 10-0 REGULAR SEASON team.

Perhaps if they faced a stout defense in that body of work, they might still be around. Easy to score a whole bunch of points if nobody stops you. I realize the goal is to score more points than your opponents but it pays to remember that there are 11 other guys on the other side committed to the same goal. I don't know about you guys but get just as excited when my Devils lay a monster hit that forces a TO as I do the ensuing TD.

How about you quit your whining and realize that polls mean NOTHING in high school. If your team really is the best 4A has to offer(which I highly doubt), let them show it the first week of December instead of starting a thread to complain like a little girl about how some newspaper writers didn't give your team the credit you think they deserve.

What are you ranked now ? Greeneville prolly gonna be higher .... lol

Call it as I see it. I'm from W. Tennessee and a fan of the Haywood district. Greeneville is the real deal. They are consistently good and an excellent program. Lexington is a good program as well, great atmosphere & class to boot. I've seen them call the dawgs off several times over the years. Good fan support & good people. At the same time the district is not traditionally strong. Lexington is definitely the class of the district. Chester County is rarely relevant, they've had basically two strong teams in the last twenty years, this year's club & 03's team I think. Also looks like CC may be a little overrated this season. Lexington is usually an average WT team, but solid nonetheless. They usually don't advance in the playoffs. David Lipscomb more often than not has been a nemesis of W.T. teams in the playoffs. So as I see it, Lexington is a good solid program just not usually a title contender. Maybe this year they will be (only the games on the field will decide). Being a Haywood fan I will tell it like it is. Haywood is terrible, the worst in their 100 year history. Hired a superintendent with little or no academic leadership/experience, as well as let him hire two football coaches. He doesn't have a clue. It doesn't look good for Haywood County. Anyway Greeneville is legit @ 1 and so is Lexington @ 2, at least it appears this year. Good luck to both. Maybe they'll meet in title game to decide, though I wouldn't bet they'll both be there. However if they both make it, I'll make a wager.

Enough said, Lexington still not even close to a title contender

I have found this entire thread to be quite amusing. I will applaud the Lexington fans pluckiness, but I fear you are biting off waaaaaaaay more than you can chew. Greeneville is a beast in Upper East Tennessee. I am not a huge Greeneville fan, but always like to see our teams east of Knoxville do well at the state level. I watched Greeneville destroy Trezevant last year. Calling them out is a big mistake. All I know about Lexington is that Michelle Bachmann thinks it is a town in New Hampshire where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired....lol! Let me leave you with a little advice from the late great Jim Croce:

-"You don't pull on Superman's Cape, you don't spit in to the wind, you don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger, and you don't mess around with them........Greeneville Greene Devils, 2010 State Champs!
