1A Huntingdon Mustangs- The Mustangs have not been challenged yet. See them rolling on to Cookeville and coming away with the trophy. Possible Mr. Football in Warbritton for this proud program.

2A Trousdale County- Have not been beaten by any Tennessee team yet. Have simply been demolishing everyone they have faced. Will add another gold ball to their crammed trophy case in December. One of the most tradition rich programs in the State at any level.

Plenty of ball left to be played. Just my thoughts. What's yours?

1A South Pittsburg - Huntingdon will be challenged. It is just a matter of time. SP has played tougher competition, and only has 1 loss so far. Even if SP loses the last 2 games against a top 10 3A school & a top 5 2A school they will still dominate the 1A playoffs. Too much speed for 1A. Oh yeah and they beat the top ranked 2A team last night 26-10..

2A Trousdale County - I havent got to see Trousdale play this year, but I know every year they are for real. I have a lot of respect for this team just like everyone else from SP & I see them adding another gold ball. Knox Grace and some other top teams might challenge them though. Just because Boyd lost dont count them out either. They dont have the greatest offense, but their defense will keep them in every game.

1A starts and ends with South Pittsburg having the trophy. 2A starts and ends with Trousdale having the trophy. Sp has played a rough schedule and should beat up on every 1a team up til the title game. A lot of football to play still. I like the pirates chances!

Huntingdon just defeated the number 1 3a school and a top 10 2a school. Better take them seriously.

If by chance they roll into Cookeville, their trophy probably won't be gold, pitchfork.

The win against Milan was impressive for Huntington, but I just don't think they were as good as advertised. To me 3a is down this year and there is about 5 or 6 teams that I believe could end up winning it 3a. I still think Gordonsville is possibly the best 1a team in the state this year. Their only 2 losses came from Smith County and Trousdale County and both are #2 in their classifications. Gordonsville was the 2nd best 1a team last year, they just met up with South Pitt too early. After watching Gordonsville a few times this year I believe they're a better team this year than last. South Pitt just beat the #1 ranked team in 2a by TD's, and reguardless of ranks I still believe Boyd is probably the 3rd at best in 2a. I like the winner between South Pitt and Gordonsville as the state champions.

In 2a I believe with out a question the best team here is Trousdale County. Not only do I think Trousdale County is the best team in 2a, but there I don't think there is a team in 1a, 2a, and 3a that is as good as Trousdale County is this year.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
