Well put by trottercoach. If they were to meet I think it will be 50/50. The way granddad put it East would not have much of a chance. East has beaten Science hill twice in the last couple of years including last year @ Science Hill.

So, do you still think it would be a 50/50 game? Not even close.

Mt Juliet should be a real test for East. My niece lives there and thinks Mt. Juliet is right up there with Riverdale and other state powers. I hope the Science Hill-Alabama game will be a good one too.

If I might throw something into the posts, it could be of some help. I am unsure of the coaching in upper Tennessee. Posts make me wonder how systematic it might be. I am very familiar with the expectations of the big schools in Middle and to some degree in West Tennessee. Mt Juliet is one of the top schools in the State this year. You might beat them some but not very often. Coaching is very solid. Wilson is the same. But to compare the two this year, close but quickness and the way its used, Mt Juliet. Conditioning, MT. Juliet. Both are in District 9 and 9 is full of historic and legendary. If Lebanon High School elevates its game within the next two years and it could, it will be a great District. Coaching will wind up as a group of winners. Clarksville, will be a super District as right now there is going to be some good building programs in Montgomery County. There are other good players at Clarksville and also other Schools. So 5 great Coaches and schools in 9 and 4 good schools and players in 10. Unsure of coaches but sure enough to know they will try to beat you "bad".

District 7AAA continues to be ledendary in Coaching and Players. 7AAA is their own worst enemy. Internal transferring will cause w/L percentages to change. Right Now, Riverdale, Blackman, Oakland and Siegel will lead the pack. lavergne is being killed by the transfer policy and will not be able to keep a coach. Smyrna has great opportunities under great circumstances. District 8 is down a little but the coaching in the District has a chance to again be better than great. Lawrence County might be great as Columbia, Shelbyville with some seasoning in coaching, and Franklin County. The coaches there work and so do the players. Look for it just about every year.

District 11 has finally decided they will play basketball with Brentwood, Independence, Hillsboro in some years and Ravenwood in others. This could be a fine District in AAA/ The Difference??? Obviously so. Great summer programs with great coaches. Big Schools.

AA and A will be very good in Middle and Northwest/West Tennessee. Could be as good as many AAA schools. Coaching might be classified as almost great. Many have found that it might be good to schedule the trip to the Riverdale playday that generally has a Blackman Playday the same weekend to see how your school migh fare. A huge amount of schools with some very hign profile coaches , IMO, just makes this not only a chance to play but watch some very fine coaches exhibit thier coaching styles. This is not the throw the ball out on the court and watch technique but some fine styles.

So, yes West Tennessee is getting bettere also with Dyersburg, Lake, Gibson and all os the smaller schools around jackson along with Overton and Whitehaven, Southwind and Millington.

As you likely know players are getting bigger, more trim, and exhibiting greater skills. C.oaches are learning from each other.

stormy, you do realize that Science Hill is better than they were last year, right? Science Hill was just finding their footing last year. This year they are easily the most talented team in East TN. Just look at both of their records thus far. Science Hill is 16-0, and has beaten teams that Morristown East lost to. Didn't Morristown East just lose to South Greene? Science Hill would beat South Greene by at least 30. Morristown East also got blown out by Mt. Juliet last week, a team that Science Hill beat by 10.

Is Morristown East at full strength? I notice they lost to South Greene and struggled with Chuckey-Doak in the LandAir. I know South Greene is better than their record and Chuckey-Doak is pretty good, but I do not think Science Hill would have any trouble beating those two teams by at least 20+.

Morristown West at Morristown East: Tuesday, 01-03-2012

Any thoughts?

East should win by 10 to 20 points with West starting 4 sophs and East playing at home. Plus the East coach had all these sophs in middle school so she is extremely familiar with their strengths and weaknesses. However, East must put the losses to SH and "South Greene" behind them. If the game is close at the end I think West could pull the upset.

Morristown West at Morristown East: Tuesday, 01-03-2012

Any thoughts?

As predicted, East beat West by 12 (predicted 10 to 20}. Still looks like East will go undefeated in the district with either Seymour or Morris. West capable of an upset of East in the tournament if their young starters continue to improve. With East's lopsided loss to South Greene last week, other district teams now may think they have a chance to unseat East. It is not likely , but possible. In the East West game, one really bad quarter by West saw their hopes drained. A lot better defense on the multitude of East 3 shooters could have made a big difference for West. Also, poor shot selection at times hurt West.

  • 2 weeks later...

how is everyones second half of season looking so far? :popcorneater:

Pretty much as expected. The senior dominated East team is undefeated with Seymour and West battling for second. East has the best chance for a trip to the state but absolutely has to win the tournament to avoid SH prior to the finals of the region tournament. If East can do that , they would then travel for a substate game that can be winnable. If Seymour, West or maybe Sevier can upset East in the tournament then the same senario applies for them...a possible trip to the state tournament. East is still in the drivers seat and is not likely to relinquish its lead.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
