About what I expected. Congrats to the Panthers!

Was there a misprint in the Tennessean or did Maplewood indeed hold White House to 0 first downs?

It was either a misprint or an omission. White House made several first downs(I'd say at least six) before garbage time in the fourth when second stringers were playing.

The score doesn't reflect how good this game was (at least the first half). The fumble and ensuing TD right after halftime really put the nail in the coffin for us. Maplewood has a exceptional defense and it will help them on their way to a championship. For such a fine team, their crowd was pretty disappointing in support of them. I figured they would have much more there. I would say that White House had twice as many fans at the game. I hope the Panthers go on to Cookeville and knock Greenville off their perch. The Devils will be back next year better than ever. Till then, good luck to the Panthers! BDP!!

thanks for the well wishes ...but why does everyone try to make this a " fanball game" ..in my eyes one fan is enough to go out and do your best ...and those of us who have been there cheering on the panthers hot or cold ...they are just as proud as if they were playing in front of 10 000 fans... we cant be like ...other schools from other smaller towns ...who don't have much to do anyway ...but football ...so they bring 3 qtrs of the town with them ....that's not going to happen here ...and we are ok with it ...and so is maplewood high school... all i'm looking forward to is winning ...and not depending on a huge fan turn out in freezing weather .... that's just not going to happen ...nashville is a big city ...with plenty of other events going on not every one digs football here ....and the ones who do are at the game ...like me ..and ill be back this coming friday ...thumb[1].gif

so many high schools here anyway ...hard to choose for some folk ... all schools by me maplewood ,east lit, strattford, hunters lane, whites creek, and having the most fans will not get you a gold ball ...

Maplewood generally has more fans than the other schools you mentioned. I know that it was standing room only in basketball last year. Good luck to Maplewood next week. You've been making 10AA proud.

    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
    • Gunner Warren was the second starter, freshman. SP #1 arm impressed me last night.
