Well, well, well. I had this circled when the brackets came out. Should be one of the craziest atmospheres in recent memory--especially with those Powell fans. West defense is second to none; more so in the run defense. Mobley will really struggle getting going in my opinion. He should ask Devrin Young how it went with West last year.

West's defense is second to none. However, you gotta stop Mobley AND McPhetridge. Bearden definitely did not have a two-headed monster like that last year.

West is a very solid football team. This will be the toughest test of the playoffs and probably the year for powell. It is the 4th round so it should be.

However, I feel comparing Devrin Young to Mobley is not accurate at all. Lets not forget what Powell has around Mobley, McPhetridge, the O-line, a lot of threats out of the WR corp. Not to mention Devrin Young and Mobley are very different style backs. Devrin was clearly a shifty scat back type. Mobley is very north and south with a few good moves mixed in. Mobley is a big strong TB that can run well. West will give Powell some fits upfront, but as we've seen before if one lineman, one LB gets blocked and theres a crease Mobley can break it or just pick up 10 yards. He is still averaging over 13 ypc. Which is incredible this late in the year. Mobley will get his yards even if its on his own, just like he has all year. At times the O line was to credit at times Mobley just made something happen. Therefore, for someone to say well Devrin Young did not do well against West so Mobley probably will not is ridiculous. Mobley is chasing the state record and is on pace to break it, Devrin Young did not get close. Whats that tell you?

Powells D will stand strong as they have almost all year. Hopefully, they will eliminate these 2nd half let downs they've been struggling with the past 2 games. West will get some yards and get some points. If Powell can keep from shooting themselves in the foot over and over (such as MoWest) then Powell is the favor.

Prediction:

Powell 34

West 21

Good luck to West.

Keep in mind Powell is really good. But to add to there arsenal they have a top notch scout and he will pick up on all of West weakness and play calling. So you might want to keep your plans on how to beat Powell to yourself because they will find it out. This guy is an incredible scout. Lock down the facility as he will be around watching practice if given the chance. Lets just say I know this one by experience. I am not mentioning names :)

Go West!

West has 38 takeaways this year. It's what their defense does; it wasn't just MoWest shooting themselves in the foot.

I do agree with you that Mobley and Devrin are 2 different types of backs and after seeing both play Young Last year and Mobley this year Devrin is a better RB than Mobley (speed kills) not to mention Devrin wouldn't mind running you over too. West's O and D line are very fast and strong. Besides Maryville they were the best line on both sides of the ball that LC faced. If Powell doesn't negate the holding penalties they had last night then West could make this one ugly! Your Comment "Mobley is chasing the state record and is on pace to break it, Devrin Young did not get close. Whats that tell you?" tells me that Powells confernce is alot weaker than Beardens. Powell only had 4 teams on there record before play-offs that were over a .500 record. You know LC finished 5th in their confernce this year and gave yall all you wanted last night....what does that tell you?

If West shows up and plays like they have the 2nd half of the year they should win by 10-14 points :popcorneater:

I saw the game. A lot of MoWest was them making stupid decisions or for instance once they had a bad handoff and west recovered it.

To add, Powell has 35 take aways on the year. Both defenses are solid.

I've seen them both play and I still find it hard to compare who is better. Devrin has more lateral quickness there is not doubt, this allows him to split defenders. Furthermore, he has great burst so once he splits them he's gone. Mobley has good one step and two step burst he will also run through arm tackles and rarely is brought down by one guy. Devrin his sr year was 5'8 165, Mobley in comparison 6'2 210. Quite a bit of difference in bringing down those 2. Not to mention Mobley runs a 4.4, he has some speed with him. If you sit and look at the Bearden Schedule it compares very much so with Powells schedule. He was not playing THAT good of teams. He averaged just over 10, still very impressive and very solid. But to say the strength of schedule played a role, it probably did a very small amount. Might be the difference in that 3 ypc average difference they have. Not to mention Mobley has just over 200 carries on the year. Just different backs in my opinion, Mobley is the better true tailback.

LC made an impressive late run, but before half way through the 3rd they had I believe 10 yard of total offense. I wouldn't say they gave us all we could handle I say the same thing happened as what did in the Ooltewah game. Powells defense let down around the 28-7 mark, exact same thing happened against Ooltewah when powell went up 35-7. They will have to fix that also. I do credit LC they pulled Powell up late to get the ball back multiple times.

    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
