D-I v. D-II

In all of my years of following TN high school wrestling I have never seen the disparity between the horses in the stables in D-II and their counterparts in the so-called "man" division. I realize that the top tier D-II teams usually whip up on local D-I competition, since most of these teams have little i the way of depth, but usually they have at least two or three kids that can hold their own, but now it seems that even the elite D-I programs are struggling. Here are my predictions in each weight pitting the top D-I kids from this weeks ranking against the top D-II kid using the latest week 6 tenn wrestling federation rankings:

Actually, they split matches in a 24 hour period, unless you are talking about Ryan or Baylor.

I disagree with the 132 spot, because rumor has it Cambell Lewis (Soddy) will be dropping to 132. And I still see Woods (Franklin) beating Ward (McCallie) . Heavyweight I would give to D1 as well. Also I think 120 is a tossup as well as 145 with Kaleb Baker (CBHS) and Turbo Smith (Soddy) splitting matches this year. 152 I give to Isbell (Clarksville) over Mosely (Ryan) after watching the match at the MTGC and watching Isbell not getting the call at the end of the match that would have won him the match, I would give it to him, although Mosely does have the edge after a past win.

 

Again, just my opinion..

Just some feedback:

 

120 - I would edge to DI right now as DII has shown inconsistency

132 - You would have to wait until Lewis makes his drop and competes to make that claim.

138 - We may see Woods and Ward this weekend.

145 - Edge would go to DII having Baker with the last, more convincing win and also the DII #2 Marchetti owning a win this season

152 - You got to go with the person who won right now

Heavy - I think you are best calling this a split. The DI #1 and DII #2 have split matches (DI winning last so maybe slight edge) with neither wrestling the DII #1 yet although I believe both matches are coming.

 

Just my thoughts. When all is said and done it will be a fairly even year with DII having a slight edge possibly.

Haven't seen the d1 220 but knowing mason he's a pretty big physical guy so is say that's a toss up..just my opinion

Yep....I know and I was talking about CB. The point was not their win but their loss since the opening of this thread was addressing the gap between D2 and D1. Had CB won both matches within that same time frame it would be a much better position statement for D2 and the Gap.

 

My opinion is that there are two very talented teams at the top of each Div. this year and then a gap of talent to the next best teams. But the next level of both Div. are very competitive against the same ranked teams of each side. I would tend to see Cleveland as the top of those 4 to 5 teams and then you have the rest of the Divisions combined that Div 1 would win with the like talented teams from Div 2.

Are you talking about the Cleveland Duals,,,or hypothetical? But more to my point,,,W-90 is missed. Let it be known she walked (UTC Graduation) the same day of the McCallie Inv. and elected to be at the tournament all day and not walk. Pretty cool.... She screams I can bring NCAA Champions into this world,,,just saying
