District 9A

Agree. Who's next?

Also that I've seen so far, not even a score from their 3rd straight regional title in the DNJ. They should really be ashamed of themselves. They told a couple of our supporters and our coach that it was demographics and they don't sell many papers in Eagleville. Well two things, 1) maybe if they wrote about Eagleville activities more they'd sell more papers and 2) they fail to realize that the majority of the kids I'm the sports program are from Christiana, Rockvale, Blackman and other more centralized communities within the county.

Page C2 in today's sports section.

Thanks for reading.

Sorry, I was looking for it online on DNJ.com. Just read it, so the Eagles played in a rematch of the District 9A tournament, I could have sworn it was the Regional Championship but I didn't see those two words in the 4 sentence blurb. Hard to see paying for a 4 sentence write-up, especially after the number of times player's names have been spelled incorrectly and often attached to MTCS or other schools and vice versa (and again our person calling it in knows the correct names and how to spell them). It's a busy week, I understand, full article write ups on tennis and track for the bigger schools outweighs any true coverage (call-ins and borrowed columns are the norm) of what has been the most consistent and most successful baseball program in the county for 3 years running hands down. Those of us who feel this way are not saying there shouldn't be coverage for the bigger schools but please, really. There have been plenty of opportunities to give some decent coverage throughout the year given the format of district games, etc. Excuses are a dime a dozen. Ask yourself this, would your sports section need more than one page (only slightly sarcastic) if you cut out all of the Riverdale coverage of all their programs that get top notch coverage (not saying this should happen, just an observation). If not then maybe you need to take a look at that. All the other schools combined get maybe a 3rd of their coverage.

Again for those of you who want to read about Eagleville baseball, there's another full page article on the Regional Championship game at the Shelbyville Times Gazette webpage, although it has a bit of home flavoring, which is understandable since they cover all of their home county teams well and evenly.

Once again it is clear that District 9A is at the very top of the districts in the state. Friendship and Decatur-Riverside have great programs but they do not play in strong districts. Eagleville and Cascade still alive in the state tourney. Eagleville lost a couple of games in district play and Cascade finished 4th. Both teams playing well at this point. Good luck to both and thanks for representing the district so well.

To add to your comment Coffee, Eagleville and Cascade faced each other 6 times this year and split down the middle so when people take a look at their win loss columns they need to realize that 3 of those in the loss column were against each other and not just losses against anybody. I would love nothing better than for them to get to face each other for a 7th time this year. Best of luck to Eagleville and Cascade who've both reached the final 4 in the State. WOW! GO D9.

In order for that to happen you have to wonder if Cascade (and even eagleville for that matter) have the pitching depth to make it that far.

Eagleville has as much pitching depth as anyone left. They have only used 2 pitchers. I am unsure of Cascade.

Eagleville has only pitched 3 guys in their 3 games. They've allowed a total of 11 hits over 3 games. They still have Hammonds who can go a full game and who tied a State record as a sophomore for strikeouts in a State game with 16, they also have McDougal who has as much rest as Fisher for Decatur and they can call on Smith for an inning or two. Behind them they have 3 other senior pitchers who have a combined record of 8-2. So they have a little bit left. Hats off to Cascade who did a great job taking Decatur to a 2nd game.
