coach1076
This is why Halls will continue to struggle. I completely agree with promoting an assistant if the program is successful, but when you have a 1-19 record over 2 years you look outside. You bring in fresh blood. Not saying that there aren't some assistants there that can't do it, but the kids need a new perspective & someone that will come in with no preconceived conceptions about what this team can or can't do. The last thing they need is the same ol same ol. I also think there is time for a search, it just needs to be done quickly & have the best possible candidate by the time dead period ends. This will give the coach time to install his stuff during July & fall camp. Anderson County hired Gillum on the same timeline a few years back & he took them to the quarterfinals that very year. For this to be done they will need to open up a teaching spot & it can be done in Knox County, you transfer a teacher to one of several schools to fill the void. There is a total education program & athletics fits into that. I know 2 people that have HC experience & are very interested in this position (Im not one of them) But they are good young coaches (Im not young, lol)with experience. I would love to see them get an opportunity at this position. People at Halls need to move fast & take this search seriously if they want the program to move forward. Good luck! devilsden
Gillum went to ACHS and had been a head coach at another school before leaving for ACHS. Comparing the AC school system to Knox Co. is not the same. I'll tell you who to hire, Joe Hassell from Central, Halls grad, head coaching experience. PlayforFUN
I wonder if they could open a spot for a Drivers Education teacher. I know of a Halls Grad that should get consideration.
CarolinaCrazy
Couldnt happen to a better bunch of people. After The way I saw there Bball fans act at several games and their AD and principal condoning it, I wish nothing but losses on Halls whole program! The AD and principal should both be on the firing block as far as im concerned. This is great for the rest of the district. At least everyone will get one win, LOL
wingman10
Coach Julian is a class guy. Halls was fortunate to have him.

TomJoad
Why did you attend several Halls Bball games if you dislike Halls so much? He's talking about what happened after the Halls game at Campbell County this year. Oh, and just in case this clown claims he's an Anderson County fan, don't believe him. We don't claim him and he is bitter at our program. He's a CC fan, as illustrated by the abbreviations on his user name and his reference to the post Campbell County-Halls basketball game ruckus.

Soxfan1
With all of the coachng changes in Knox County this year, you have to wonder why anyone would want to coach there. The pay is low, even for football coaches and principal's are not willing to make spots on faculty for coaches when academics or course offerings are at stake. Not a good time to coach in Knox Co. They ran off a winning guy at West (girls BB), winning coahces at Karns SB and Halls SB. Powell fb quit, sb quit, Baseball quit and the list goes on. devilsden
These are the nmes I could think of with HHS ties; Houston Quarles - current assist coach, no head coaching experience, only coaches defense Joe Hassell - Central's head coach, was at HHS but left and took the CHS job Phil Ironside - QB from the 80's, Alcoa head coach, now coaching in Ga. Greg Vandergriff - Coached with Ironsides in Ga, now coaching somewhere in the Atlanta area, no head coaching experience Randy CArroll - assist at Webb, head coach at Gibbs, All-state at HHS Kevin Catlet - assist as Webb, head coach at ?, played on state champ team from HHS No HHS ties; Any assistant from Alcoa/Maryville staff - cut in pay for sure Matt Lowe - took Powell to champioship game in '11 Take a chance on; CHAD PENNINGTON - went to HMS, than transferred to Webb, parents taught at HHS, not playing pro ball any more, owns marina north of Maynardvills, chance to move back home, DO YOU THINK HE COULD GET SOME PEOPLE OUT FOR FOOTBALL? CAN I GET A heck YEAH?!!
