Just curious . . . How did it go with JV?

Really well, SH got up 21-0 then let a hail mary get by them just before halftime. Good showing by both teams, but it looks like we had more speed on the offense. JV might not be that important, but you have to remember, a lot of these guys will be leading the team in the next years. SH won 35-21

If memory serves, the younger science hill teams have usually performed well against DB for a number of years. However, without a winning program at the varsity level, a lot of those athletes focus on other sports such as basketball and baseball.

With 90 players on this year's roster, we could be witnessing evidence that the trend is changing.

exactly right. Lot of multiple sport athletes that don't get to train offseason for football. Meaning, we have athletes, but they don't focus on football alone.

A lot of guys went down with cramps from Science Hill?!? That's very un-Carter-like. I remember Carter's teams at South wearing other teams down and always, always being in better shape. I figured ole Stace would transfer that Ranger training straight over to JC. The Toppers are gonna need to be in better 4-quarter shape if they hope to do well in the 6A playoffs, not to mention if they hope to bring down the "Evil Empire".

It might be EVIL but the are no EMPIRE

I heard about that one...good game Toppers. Don't forget, the Indians have the good Soph's on Varsity. The Toppers are building up the program.

    • I have no idea who your team is, but Memphis and other Shelby Co. schools have hardly made a dent, if you’re talking Game 15 appearances. Outside of a couple by Whitehaven, I can’t recall the last team in a final.
    • Robbed you guy at a chance of 3 state championships. You never kne, sond best team in the west my have beat you also, but you sure deserved the chance to play um.
    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
