Last week I chose 11 games. This week I've selected 6 games. I will tally the season standings after the Week 5 games have been played. That being said, the Big Games in Memphis for Week 5 looks like the following:

Game 1: Fri., Sept. 21, (5-0) Briarcrest (D2-AA West) @ (4-1) Arlington (D14-6A)

Game 2: Fri., Sept. 21, (3-2) East (D16-5A) @ (3-2) MUS (D2-AA West)

Game 3: Fri., Sept. 21, (5-0) St. George's (D2-A West) @ (3-1) Harding Aca. (D2-A West)

Game 4: Fri., Sept. 21, (4-0) CBHS (D2-AA West) @ (2-2) Collierville (D15-6A)

Game 5: Fri., Sept. 21, (3-1) Craigmont (D14-5A) vs (5-0) Mitchell (D18-4A) @ J.P. Freeman

Game 6: Fri., Sept. 21, (3-1) Jackson Central Merry (D14-4A) @ (2-2) St. Benedict (D2-A West)

My picks:

Game 1: Arlington

Analysis: Arlington and Briarcrest both have outstanding QB's. Both are well coached. Both have quality receivers. I think Arlington's 'D' is better suited for this game then Briarcrest's 'D'. Plus, Arlington is playing at home.

Game 2: MUS

Analysis: Don't let the identical records fool you; MUS has played better quality teams and they have been competitive doing it. East's 'D' won't be able to withhold MUS enough to win. Also, MUS wants to get last week's 4th quarter collapse against Olive Branch out of their system.

Game 3: St. George's

Analysis: St. George has proven to be a championship caliber team. Championship caliber teams win these types of games.

Game 4: CBHS

Analysis: Collierville is a 'pretender', and NOT a contender. CBHS rolls. This one could get ugly.

Game 5: Craigmont

Analyst: Mitchell has been winning by smoke and mirrors lately. Their youth is showing up. Craigmont will exploit the Mitchell mistakes.

Game 6: St. Benedict

Analysis: Mr. Wilkins, the Auburn committed RB at St. Benedict will run all over JCM.

Well ... that does it for me. Your turn.

2) MUS by 28 (East might get "mercy ruled." Seriously.)

In case you didn't notice, Shane Tucker had ZERO rushing attempts against OB. He's not 100%. That makes MUS offense very one dimensional and easier to defend (witness the OB game). Nonetheless, their passing game MAY be able still to get that MR.

I didn't realize you guys didn't have Shane. That's a huge loss, even with your passing prowess.

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
