Jalen Hurd is in a class by himself right now, as far as skill position players go.

Are we sticking to just 6A and 5A? If not, then we at least have to mention Corn Elder from Ensworth. Had 296 yards against Baylor, 229 against MUS, 227 against McCallie, and 200 against Lexington Catholic on national TV. He also has 18 rushing touchdowns so far.

I have seen him in person and on TV multiple times. His ability to evade tacklers, to make them miss him, is simply amazing.

Agreed. Dodson is a 3* who is committed to Ole Miss. I am sure that he is good, but he's not Jalen Hurd.

 

Hurd is a 5* (247 Sports) who is ranked #1 in TN and the country. He is leading the nation with 1,529 yards after 5 games - not the state - the nation. His offers are staggering - Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Nebraska, Michigan ..... and on and on.

 

Elder is about 600 yards behind him.

I haven t seen hurd but corn elder is the best I've seen. and he is not 600 behind he had another 200 or so against raleigh egypt also.

I'm sure both of these young men are in the running for Mr. Football in Tennessee. I don't have full stats on either, but those are the two who stand out from my perspective. If you ask someone from Middle TN/Inner West TN who has actually witnessed Mr. Hurd’s herculean efforts, they may wish to reverse the order. That's perfectly understandable. Both are running amuck against the oppositions defenses.

I've seen both backs play and would love either one playing on my team but would take Hurd over Dodson. Whitehaven has more playmakers that the opposition's D have to play honest with. Everyone keys on Hurd and he is still unstoppable. Dodson may be slightly faster but Hurd has the size to run you over or the speed to run past you. This is based on watching Dodson last year as a Junior and Hurd this year as a Junior. Edited September 21, 2012 by MJpride
